| Smo and Sherm joined QuickFeet today! It was bittersweet! I knew they would love it but I also knew that many of my early morning runs with Smo would be coming to an end. Their practice starts at 6:30 a.m. at Snow Canyon High School so when work schedule permits I will have the luxury of running in the natural playground that surrounds the high school. 10 miles, AP 8:08 Began on the Snow Canyon trails -> pioneer highway -> Rachel street -> Puerto Street -> Center street and back. BEAUTIFUL. 5 miles up, 5 miles down. |

| Zero running for me today but what a FANTASTIC day for Smo and Sherm!! It was the USATF State Championship. We were unsure on how everything would go down with the move and all. Smo and Sherm joined their dream team, "QuickFeet", here in St. George 5 days prior to the meet. Here's how it went: Sherm: Raced both the 100 and 200 meters. Had no real training this year up until Monday. Struggled with the blocks (slipping on BOTH races). Started out behind, ended up taking third! Nicely done!!! 100 meters: 14.19 seconds 200 meters: 30.09 seconds Sophia: WOW!!! Huge PRs for her today! She looked SO strong!!! It was BEAUTIFUL!!! 800 meters: 2:45.69 (personal best by 6 seconds) and 1st place!!! The new STATE CHAMP!!! 1500 meters: 5.31.20 (personal best by 12 seconds)!!!! The race was INSANE!!!! She ended up taking second place, missing out on first by 1/100th of 1 second!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (First place ran a 5:31.19!) It was NUTZ!!! The four officials at the finish line were arguing on who won. THREE of them said Sophia BUT the main guy over the USATF youth in Utah, Tony Glover, said it was the other girl (and he has the last say). It was an AWESOME race!!!! Yeah, Sophia would have loved to have been the state champ but you can't sulk about a 12 second PR when you are running that fast!! I LOVED how her new coach talks to her!!! He was so excited for her and told her that you never worry about the placings at this point! Your focus is on your improvements, your times, your work ethic and your attitude! If you do that, the placings will come! Regional Championship is in two weeks in Meridian, Idaho!! :-) | Comments(3) |

| 5 miles with Ry, AP 8:17, in beautiful Snow Canyon! :-) Snow Canyon is actually 20 minutes driving time from our house. However, since that's where the kids have track 3-4 days a week it is super convenient if my work schedule allows. I love running there. |

I think I found an entrance to some more trails. :-) Oh and Smooth's post today reminded me of something: I probably need to find myself a good marathon training plan for SGM. My last couple of races that I have run without truly following some sort of plan have definitely had their shortcomings. Can't decide how many miles I am willing to train a week right now. I suppose I am just truly enjoying not having to cram so much into such little time. Almost like I am on vacation sprinkled with fun work that I get paid for. It's just plain not normal!!!! :-) |

| 14.5 miles by my lonesome, AP 8:27, 74゜ From my house into the Bloomington Hills area (the neighborhood with a lot of fun street names, like Blueberry Drive), wound my way onto the Virgin River Trail both west and east of River Road and then back home again ... jig a jig jig! :-) Missed my Ry but he has had some back issues ever since driving to and from Meridian, Idaho. We've got that pretty worked out though and he should be running again in no time. :-) Probably should find myself some more running partners to make these longer runs not seem so long (only issue is that my work schedule can be a little wacko).
