I really wanted to swim but have found myself behind in my studies. This way I could do a little reading.

Our family spent much of last night at the Respiratory ICU as we said our goodbyes to Ry's sweet grandma. It was bitter-sweet as we watched her mortal body shut down. She was 86 and absolutely wonderful.

Rest in peace, Grandma Bessie. I love you.

So sorry to hear about his.

So are you cross training because you still have some pain/concerns?

From Teena Marie on Wed, Feb 16, 2011 at 15:38:40 from 67.2.102.27

Lily,

Thank you for your kind words.

I am wanting to build my miles back up gradually as to ensure no setbacks. :) Plus, I want to do a better job at continually crosstraining to keep my overall body strong (not just my running muscles and heart). I love how I feel when I do this.

Just looking for the perfect balance. :)

Teena you are so right! I feel the same way. Especially in the last year I have really come to find out that cross training really does my body good. And weight training, oh weight training! I am hooked.

Have you read born to run? I'm sure you have, but if not, I think it's cool how they talk about great runners building a strong overall body (ply0metrics) and this helps them run faster and prevents injury. Words of wisdom I tell ya.

I am sure you are much better at the weights than me! I do happen to love resistance training though and am a big fan. I love doing stuff with therabands, resistance cords, benches, medicine balls, wobble boards, etc. (Stuff that PTs use a lot -- very convenient.)

Yes, I have read Born to Run. Great read! :)

Grandma Bessie will be greatly missed, I am sure. But her legacy, love and influence lives on!

My condolences to you, Ry and the family!

So sorry to hear about Ry's grandma. Memories of time spent with loved ones is one of life's greatest treasures and one we get to keep forever. My condolences to you and your whole family.

Thank you so much for the kind words. They are truly appreciated.

Grandma suffered a severe stroke when Ry and I were in high school. The doctors didn't think she'd make it. That was over 20 years ago!!! We feel so lucky to have had her for so long.

Side note: Over 10 years ago when Ry was in law school and we were as poor as they come I interviewed all of my and Ry's living grandparents and created a short personal history of each of them as Christmas presents to Ry's and my parents. How thankful I am for those written histories now! Ry and I have laughed and cried as we read and re-read Grandma Bessie's. :) :) :)

In other words: Everyone go interview your loved ones!!!!!! :) :) :)
