This morning we had a 5K for our stake. I figured there could be too many decent runners, but there were several who ran pretty decent. A guy with veins bulging out of his freshly shaved legs beat me by about 80 seconds. But I got second in 19:20. I had a hard time pushing myself harder. Tonight I ran 10.5 miles on the treadmill to get some extra miles. It was not bad. Averaged about 7:30 pace. I think I could run that pace all day if I wanted to. Too bad that won't get me a marathon time as fast as I want this year. But I am happy I got to 44 miles this week. It's not great, but it's good enough. I'm not very motivated. What's the point in trying to run fast in races again? Especially when you're 35 years old and have other more important things to do? |
