I'm doing "key workout 1" each week from a marathon training plan April gave me a link to.  Today was 3 x 1.5 tempo with a half-mile active recovery in between.  First I ran 5 miles warmup @ 8:23.  Then the 1.5 mile repeats (goal < 11:00 which is 7:20 pace):

10:49 (7:13 pace)

4:03 recovery

10:48 (7:12 pace)

4:03 recovery

10:29 (6:59 pace)

4:16 recovery

Pretty hard effort by the last repeat.  Felt like the end of my last 5K where I was struggling against the 7:00 guy.  AP 7:51 for the 11 miles.

Let's go Joe. You're only #2 on the mileage board. Step it up.

Unfortunately I'm only 8-11 hours ahead of the U.S. If I could find a place that was 2 days ahead, I'd be in business.

Way to jump in with both feet. I really believe in these fast workouts, to the extent you can avoid injury there is no faster way to improve. 3:30 for Houston is in the bag already.

Nice workout! You are well ahead of your planned paces and finished with a strong repeat! I agree that 3:30 is in the bag!

Super workout joe! Quick and smooth! Your mileage looks great too. I agree with Burt..... Step it up. Don't let those 90 mile a week guys get ahead of you....

From SlowJoe on Mon, Nov 08, 2010 at 23:32:36 from 195.39.154.10

Flat - thanks, hoping to just keep it together for 12 more weeks.

April - I think if I can survive the long runs, I have a shot...

Rye - good call, 15 miles a day from now on! what could go wrong?
