Personal:

I've been running since high school (mid-1990s) and do pretty well when I'm focused on a goal. My main problem  is running consistently when I'm NOT training for something specific. I'm an attorney, and I've been married to my husband, also a runner, for 5 1/2 years. We live in Phoenix, Arizona.  We had a beautiful baby girl, Caroline, in August 2009.

It's getting hot!  It's 7:00 pm, and it's in the low 80s right now, so it was probably in the high 80s when I started my run.  Total time was 49:49, average pace 9:55.  I'm glad the Garmin worked this time: now I know how fit (or unfit) I am after several weeks of laziness.

Normally I would not run on a Sunday, but I went to the mall this afternoon to look for some casual summer weekend pants.  In four separate stores, not a single thing in my size fit!  I refuse to succumb to the bigger size, so I didn't buy anything (except shoes and shirts, which still fit OK).  So, until I lose weight, I will either be (1) very hot, or (2) not able to breathe, and I will definitely be a slow runner.

Goal for the week: run 20+ miles, lose 1-2 pounds.

You will meet your goal! And don't worry at all about being slower on the evening run, it doesn't mean you're out of shape. #1- it was hot, heat definately affects pace, esp. when we're first changing seasons again & getting used to it after cooler weather. #2- evening runs are tougher, slower is OK. Did you go to Old Navy? I love them because their sizes seem more "generous"
