Personal:

25 years old

I graduated from East High in 2015, then ran for Southern Utah University for 2.5 years. I served a mission in Independence, Missouri for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in 2016, right in the middle of my time at SUU. I came home early after 5 months in the mission field due to depression. I transferred to BYU-Idaho for a semester and a half, but had to drop out due to depression. I was then diagnosed with bipolar 2 disorder.

I began working full-time in May of 2020 to pay off medical bills. Starting January 2021 I took a couple classes online through SUU while working full-time to finish my Associates degree in July 2021.

January 2022 I dropped down to part-time work due to severe depression. I was in and out of the hospital 4 times in 6 months, and ended up having to quit my job entirely in July 2022 so I could go to a residential treatment center and a follow up partial hospitalization program, followed by an intensive outpatient program. I began ketamine infusions in October 2022 which have been a life changer. I also got a new job and began working part-time again in October 2022.

I no longer consider myself LDS, I left the church in February 2022. I'm figuring out my beliefs currently and I'm not sure I want to associate myself with organized religion at this time. I think I most closely align myself with secular theism. I look at my time in the LDS church and my mission and I cringe a little at how I used to be, but that's growth for you.

Ran up to the track and did 2 laps then a mile of speed changes. Then we changed shoes and did another lap and started the speed. The workout was 1600, then 3 sets of 3x300s. For the 1600 we were supposed to hit 5:30-5:40 and I got 5:42. I think Eleanor said our splits were 79, 2:46 (87), 4:16 (90), and 5:42 (86). I felt pretty good on the mile, I wasn't sure I could do it fast. Then for the 300s I'd always get to the line and immediately we'd start again, so very little recovery, like it was supposed to be, but that was what was hard for me. On the last 2 I got a huge sideache, but of course had to run through it. I slipped on the last couple. I don't remember many of the times, but I think for the most part they were 58-63? Some were faster and some were slower. I don't really know. Then we did 2 grass laps and back down to the school.

PM:

Track warmup: 2 vertical laps, stretching, and drills, then wall sits that seemed surprisingly easy, then did some leg workout on the stairs. Then distance went for our run: to sugarhouse and 10 continuous hills by the white tree and then a lap and back to the school. Dakota said he was 6:49 average pace at the light which probably would've made me a little above 7 average. So not too bad I guess. Then there was always the 2 miles back to the school so it could've changed. Oh well, I did feel like I was pushing so that's all that matters. 7.5 miles. Early bed time? I think so. I'm really tired, probably from staying up late last night and getting up early this morning to go running.

It's time to get new shoes, my knees were hurting.

We went down to Liberty and went short way to the drinking fountain. Then we did strides and went over to the mile. We did 2 800s recovering back to the mile, then went back to the fountain and did a lap of fireman cutting it short and just going up 9th instead of back to the fountain. My 800s were both 2:47 so yay for consistency. I felt tight pretty much the whole run.

Today after we drove from St. George to Arizona we ran the course and did some strides in the dark. Tomorrow is going to be a REAL cross country course with all the water in the trench and how muddy it is!

The race was today! We went to the course and after cheering everyone on and waiting around for our race I lost Emmaline and Eleanor and found Megan so I did my warmup with her and she did it as her cool down. After going to the line we did strides and such. I was in box 13 so right in the middle :)

When I got out I was already towards the back because I got boxed in. If I could do it over again I would have been more aggressive at the line. But once it got further into the race I was able to start passing people. Going through the trench the first time was a bit sketchy because I almost tripped and fell in the water. I didn't get too wet though so that was good. It was SO MUDDY after that, some parts so bad that it felt like I wasn't moving. But at least it was a flat course. Going through the trench the second time my shoes were finally soaked through and I had puddles in my spikes for the next half mile, more mud and more slipping. After mile 2 it got hard for me. I felt like I could breathe just fine, surprisingly easily, but my legs just hurt. Idk how to explain it. When we turned for the final stretch I forgot how long it was and started to kick too soon and when I went through the trench for the third time I slowed down and the people I passed had passed me back. I got myself to start kicking again a little after that but it wasn't much. I was hoping for a faster time, but I guess I'm alright with it. Wish I could've worked harder the last mile.

Then we did a cool down and I'm counting it as 2 miles. It was 18 minutes long
