Today was speed. We did normal warmup, then a mile warmup and a mile speed changes. Then we did another lap. Our workout was 2 sets of 300, 1000, 600, 300, 300, 300. Right around the middle of it I started to mentally crash, but then I decided to turn it around and tried to turn my thoughts positive. It eventually worked :) I will put down what I remember of my times and look at my watch later to get the rest. My first 300 was a 52, the 1000 was 3:35, then the 600 I didn't catch, the 3 300s I think went 54, 61, 63 or something like that. I didn't quite catch each of those times. Then the 2nd set the first 300 was 57, the 1000 was 3:42, then 600 was 2:19, 300s were 54, 56, 56. It really wasn't a hard workout, I was just in a bad mood.
Then I went on a cool down with Tomy and John, it was 3.5 to get us to 10.

AM:
3 miles
PM:
Today we did normal warmup, then went to the hill and did 6 hill strides, then did 4 X strides across the football field. I just focused on form because I know my form sucks.
Then we split up into even smaller groups, I went with the boys. We started with the shriner's run, but then instead of turning up to go on the hill we continued straight and went along there for aways, turning up to go by the cemetery, then continued to where we usually do our 4th hill for the avenues hill run. We started there and did our hill run, this way we cut off the first 3 hills (AKA the easy ones.) It was a bit discouraging to be so much slower than all of them on the hills, I was working hard to stay as close to them as I could. But when I saw Tomy finish each of the hills I'd still only be a little more than halfway up. You guys are so fast! Then we did shriner's run back to the track. Then we did 2 300s, I was first to go on each of them. The first one was 54, second was 55. Then did .75 to get to 11. My legs feel dead now, it's been a long time since they've been this tired. But it's a good tired :) |

Clearfield, Cyprus @ East (0.5 Miles) 00:02:33, Place overall: 1 | | Today was the trimeet at East! I did warmup with Megan, then went over to the line and did a few strides. In the 400, I was in lane 1 so I focused on everyone else ahead of me, and it was a 67. It was really windy! In the 800, I went out and first lap was 72, then finished with a 2:33. It was windy, so it was tough, but I didn't let that effect me! New PR :) Then I decided to do the 3200 as a bit of cool down! I was originally gonna go slow, but then saw a clearfield girl, and decided it would be fun to win, so I did! It was a 12:45, so really not that fast still. Then I did another mile with Megan to get to 7. |

BYU Invitational 2013 (2 Miles) 00:11:40, Place overall: 28, Place in age division: 4 | | Today was the BYU Invite! It was a long day. I warmed up 2 miles, then went to the bull pen and got my stickers and did drills and strides. I got a terrible start, people were elbowing me like crazy (a bit ironic, the official even said "if you elbow someone, you'll get disqualified.") It bothered me a bit, the pack was going slower than I expected it to, I was expecting the usual 78 first lap deal. It was an 81. I think I panicked a bit when I realized this group was a slow group, I saw one girl ahead of everyone else and she was getting further away from the pack. I worked up to her, then once I caught her I passed her. My plan was to hit my mile right around 5:35, then finish the race. I came through at 5:37 I think it was. I then just tried to work those 2 laps, I was alone and it was a lot harder than at Arcadia having the whole group pull me along. Then when it came to 800, I needed a 2:50 to qualify, I heard Bill yell that, and for some reason I thought I was going at least that pace, if not faster. The one girl passed me and I didn't fight her like I should've, then 2 more came, didn't fight. Then 400 left I needed a 78, 300 a 55, then I thought "just what I did in workouts" but then I thought too much about it and how much running hurts, then with 200 left I thought maybe I could do it, 100 I decided I could, but it was too late, about 50 meters left I watched the 11:30 tick away on the clock. I sort of gave up after that. I'm mad about my race, straight up mad. I wish I could do it over again. Now it's all up to region, which is on wednesday and now I'm freaked out, I was sure I was gonna qualify today. 10 seconds off, why can't I simply accept the pain like I did at Arcadia and fight people? Tomorrow I race the 1600, I'm scared for it, too, I haven't really thought much about it, I've been so focused on the 3200. I did 3 miles cool down. |

BYU Invitational 1600 (1 Miles) 00:05:18, Place overall: 14, Place in age division: 1 | | AM: Today was BYU. I ran 2.75 warmup and drills and strides and such. Today was the 1600! I asked Bill if he thought I could qualify, and he said he thought so, so I went for it. I remembered what happened in the 3200 and was nervous. I didn't want to get boxed in, so I went with 2 girls out pretty fast, when everyone cut in I was 3rd, the second lap I made my way up to the first person, then on the curve debated going around, but sat on her remembering yesterday, then decided to pass on the straight, and then worked that 3rd lap, knowing it was the hardest one. Then I started to pick it up with 500 left, with 400 to go I was at 4 minutes exactly, and that was where I really started to believe that I could qualify, but I didn't kick hard enough, missed it by a stupid second. I started to slow down a bit with about 50 meters left, wish I would've ran to the line. At least now I know what I'm capable of! it was an 11 second PR for me, and I got first in my heat :) I did 5 miles cool down PM: Met Bill, Chris, Megan and Flower at Liberty and we did a wood chip lap warmup, then 3 800s at 2:45-2:50 pace. 800 recovery, I hit 2:51, 2:51, 2:43. Then another lap cool down. |
