I paced 1:40 group at the Havasu Half today.  I was a bit worried when I went to bed last night, not having run that pace for that distance in quite some time.

I needed to average 7:37.  I started off with my little group of hopeful 1:40 runners.  The pace felt very slow and easy, but it was right on.   By mile 12, I only had one runner left with me and my garmin said I was 6 seconds ahead of pace.  Since there were no other 1:40 runners around me I decided to push the guy left with me to a faster time.  I kept telling him to stick with me and keep working, that he would regret it if he didn't stay with me.  The poor guy was breathing hard and grunting and groaning and giving it everything, but I wouldn't let him quit.  We finished at 1:39:04.

I talked to him afterwards and he was very excited about his time and grateful that I didn't let him ease up.  It felt good to help someone supersede their expectations.  It also gave me a lot of confidence that I may be able to get back into sub 3 shape by UVM since I really wasn't working at all at that pace.

9 days till Boston!

Rhett, I am seriously impressed with your fitness level after not being able to run much. I can only run that fast in my cool running dreams. Well done and nice job pushing that guy!!!

Nice job mister pacer! I was supposed to be a pacer for a 2:00 group two weekends ago, but then decided to do the 50 instead. I am looking forward to it next year.

HAVE FUN IN BOSTON! Wish I was going to be there again....I should have married a plastic surgeon or dentist or something! Then I could do Disneyland and Boston in the same year every year. ;o)

Hey, I had a major crying episode (reading a very sad book) for like 2 hours. I can not get my contacts to not be foggy and it has been 3 days. What is the deal? Do a lot of tears ruin contacts? I wish you lived here, it is really time to get in to the eye doctor. It is my last pair. Dang.

Rhett ~ That is just so you to help someone reach and exceed their goal! What a wonderful run and awesome pacer you are! Can't wait to see you and Doone in 6 days! Larry forgot to call the Cambridge Stake today to make sure they're not having Stake Conference next Sunday. But their website didn't mention anything about Stake Conference in April. So may be we are safe to go to the Cambridge 2nd ward's sacrament meeting at 1pm!

Kellitears should not affect your contacts. Maybe try some supraclens drops while you soak them overnight. Possibly they have protein build up on them. Thanks for the kiknd words about my run.

Smooth I'm sure we will have a great Sunday experience no matter what happens. I'm looking forward to it.

Tears have always affected my contacts, I must have potent tears!!!!! I have never heard of those drops, I will get some! And, I just made an eye appointment, so new contacts will solve the problem!

You guys have fun!!!!!

Kelli, don't bother tracking me. I'm just there for a good time... and to find the statue of John Kelley. :)

But I WANT to track, it is fun! Have a great time!!

Are all of your injuries healed up?

OH, and my contacts are doing much better, too. I will make sure next time I have a cry fest, I wear my glasses.
