I was cruising along this morning running at a low HR in the low 130s thinking how great is feels to be running 7:30 minute miles and not feel like I was working at all when all of the sudden about 8 1/2 miles into the run my left calf tighted and then gave me that sharp pain that I have gotten in the past when my calf gives me fits. I recognized what was happening really fast so was able to stop immediately and not casue any extra damage, so hopefully within a week I'll be back running strong again.  It sure is depressing though, that everytime I start to peak, my calfs give me problems!  My amazing running turned to a depressing run really fast.  I walked in the last 1 1/2 miles for a total of 10.

Oh man, that really stinks.

Sorry about the calf but at least you realized what was happening and stopped. That'll pay off on the recovery. You are so fit now a few days of rest won't set you back.

The silver lining is you can now recognize it happening and can avoid a catastrophe. Days off aren't so bad! Your body will catch up.

Yes,it was depressing yesterday, but like you guys said, I stopped super fast before it got bad and today it feels fine just walking and doing cross training. A few days of cross training will probably be good for me anyways.
