prov millville loop in my new nike frees. I forgot to wear my calf supports, my other calf (right one) was giving me a twinge of pain, I rolled it hard with the stick and stretched it heavily after the run and iced it.

After carefully examining the nike free I have decided it is basically just a running shoe with some horizontal and vertical grooves carved in the bottom to make it more flexible. I figure I could take any pair of shoes and do the same thing with a circular saw by notching out the bottom. When I get bored I will take an old pair of cushioned trainers and try this out.

i love the nike frees, but they wear out so fast. i would say they have half the life of my other shoes. i am interested to hear how your sawing project goes.

nice running today.

Allie, I haven't decided if I like the free yet or not. Does it wear out because of the grooves, I can see how they could split or tear. I am going to take my old mizuno precisions and carve them into a free and see what happens. they are retired anyway so no harm done if I wreck them.

Shamrock shuffle 5K this saturday at Skyview high- only 5 bucks and one buck off if you wear something green- are you interested in running it?

in my case, yes, they literally ripped. the backs tore within 200 miles and a few of the grooves split pretty deep within 400 miles or so. they became my "floppers". i really like how they feel though.

as for the shamrock shuffle...tempting, especially for only 5 bucks. i'll see what my work schedule holds for the weekend. i really need to get a good time trial in, but i am just so terrified of 5Ks! hopefully i will see you there.

Interesting commentary on the Frees. I've never had them but am considering getting some. I just have so many pairs of shoes its hard to rationalize paying money for a new pair when I can just keep rotating through 5 really old pair that feel flat but still have good soles on them.

Good luck in the 5k this weekend, Scott. Allie, you should totally do it too.
