I haven't run yet today , but I figured out how to change my blog nickname to my real name without crashing the blog server. I was quite proud of myself and plan to put this on my resume under "computer skills". Now I am going to try to learn mysql and php and work on my on line biochemistry textbook I have been working on part time.  It will be a free open access set of recorded lectures, text, handouts, problems, quizzes and recorded problem solving tutorials. I have already done this for a distance education general chemistry class I teach on line, but I am lacking the php/mysql skills to make my site dynamic so am still reliant on UENs blackboard for data management. Maybe someone skilled at this stuff can help me a little when I get stuck (Steve Piccolo?)

noon- 6 easy on the indoor track in the FF. just the right time of day for "noon time social hour" on the track, where the local USU lady walkers walk four-five abreast around the track talking, oblivious to people trying to run.the lanes are clearly marked from the inside "running" jogging", with the outside lane marked "walking".  But the noon time walkers are too busy talking to notice those markings I guess. And it is important to be next to each other for most efficient talking. And majority rules I guess.

Isn't that what grad students are for?

no,they have to stay at the lab bench and generate mass quantities of biochemical data so I can publish papers and get my NIH grant renewed. Therein lies my problem- too many things I would like to do, but in reality I have to focus on my research, teaching, and scientific service (NIH review board, journal editorial boards). So really, at the end of the day I have no time left to learn web programming, though I would really like to. But I may hire a really good undergrad from engineering to help me this summer using some of the money I get for teaching my distance education class.

I wish I didn't have to work on my dissertation so I could have the time to help you. And I wish I knew enough PHP. The class sounds great though. Tell you what...you get me hired as a professor in the CS department (I already applied), and I'll help you with it. If not, maybe you can hire Sasha to work on it in between lying on a tennis ball (see Discussion Forum)? :)

Steve, if you come to USU we can collaborate on things like this! too bad I don't have any muscle in the CS department to pull some strings. but then again I don't have much of any muscle anywhere here. I hope they hire you, would be great to have you here. keep me posted.

there are only a few windows of time to run on that track without it being a zoo---too early and you run into all the ROTC guys. too late and you hit the walking social hour. and later than that you hit track practice. that is why it should just be warm out.

I thought all the people who set New Year's Resolutions to walk on the track would have given up by now...
