No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

I went to a different doc today for a second opinion. The news was still not good, but he spent lots of time explaining everything to me and actually showed me everything he was concerned about on the MRI films. (very different approach than the first doc.) He also eased my worries about compartment syndrome. What I have is a fractured tibia in addition to my injured hammie, but fortunately it's not bad enough to need a cast. I am however stuck with the crutches until I can walk with zero pain. Once I get there I can start biking. Running is not even an option for about 6 weeks. The good news is that the doc said a late Fall marathon was still in the cards for me if I'm good! I went to the Y with Kym after my visit and spent 45 min on the hand-bike. At least I can still get some cardio in while I'm resting the leg and it's about time I put some effort into building up my wimpy uper body anyway.

Ouch. I hope you heal soon.

Darn it, but hope you heal fast.

How about some swimming? Will the Doc allow that?

wish you the best!

I'm sure that would be OK, but uh, swimming is for swimmers. I'm a runner :)

Seriously, for me swimming is strictly a survival skill. I can swim well enough to save my life if I fell out of a boat or off the dock, but it's not my idea of a good time. The hand-bike is good for now and I should be on a regular bike and maybe even an elliptical machine in a couple weeks.

i am sorry. i hope it heals quickly so that you can get off those crutches. great job on staying positive and motivated. cross-training is good! and swimming as a survival skill? LOL. i totally agree with that one. i can't swim at all. luckily we have so many activities to choose from! good luck with everything.

I feel the same way about swimming---I am sure I could float or doggy paddle if I needed to!

Ok, ok, get the picture. Forget about swimming, won't ever suggest that again! man! ...
