No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

9:00am Psalm 117 - Proverbs 11

Hocccchk toooay! Still too phlegmy to worry about my splits, I just tried to get into the Word and keep a steady effort. I didn't even look at my watch until my battery went dead during Proverbs 11 :( Bummer, only 11 miles in and dead silence for the rest of my run. Quiet time for prayer I guess. The next 10 miles were extra long, especially the last 3 with a strong in-my-face-headwind! I was surprised to see my final average pace at 7:22 after such a slow week.

Nice long run Trap.

Nothing wrong with a little dead silence for prayer, or to be alone with your thoughts. Of course, that depends on what your thoughts contain...

You know, these tough long runs while being sick are great mental strength builders for the marathon. I wish I'd gotten a nasty cold a few weeks before my last marathon!

The wind couldn't have been too strong looking at your time! :) You are soooo ready for the marathon!!

From rAtTLeTrAp on Mon, Jun 27, 2011 at 01:21:01 from 24.22.239.183

Lily - indeed

Laputka - longest one in a long while. Hopefully I can get at least two more 21+ milers in before raceday.

Scott - I need all the prayer time I can get lately, if you've got any room on your list send up a short one for my family.

Steam - Those last 4 miles were all flat and should have been a lot faster :) I'm ready to kill that marathon, I just hope I can hang in there for a few more weeks. I've had a lot of stress lately and it makes training tough!

From Steam8 on Mon, Jun 27, 2011 at 02:01:15 from 166.70.55.77

What stress? You okay? Is it that teenager? Mine has turned my hair white!

From DLTheo on Mon, Jun 27, 2011 at 18:39:57 from 155.130.107.42

More importantly, are you ready for the 4 miler?

No problem sending some prayers up on your family's behalf!

From rAtTLeTrAp on Mon, Jun 27, 2011 at 18:54:56 from 72.102.253.190

Amy - The teenager is only half of it. Even when they're grown you can't stop being a parent. It's been a tough month to be a dad, probably my hardest one yet.

Scott - I'm not sure I'll be racing the 4 on the 4th now. It's tough to plan stuff the way things have been lately. If I do, it will be a last minute thing.
