No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

5 miles! I started getting a little pain in my calf during the 5th mile. It was a little higher and more to the outside than where it was hurting before. It was probably just a little cramp this time, but I figured I'd play it safe and quit while I was ahead. Thursday night I'm going to run a few miles with the Tacoma Runners. They meet once a week at a different pub/restaurant around town to run a few miles and hang out. Sounds fun.

I'm not out of the woods yet. I'm still sore today...

I had some calf pain back in mid September, I didn't shake the injury, or whatever it was until the end of October-beginning of November. I ran through it. Still ran everyday but cut my mileage. It hurt bad, some runs ended in tears.

Some things I did that seemed to help a lot. Athletic tape, wow, this did wonders, I shaved my lower leg and wrapped it with tape, unbelievable results. I also would sometimes wrap and ace bandage around my calf and last, a compression sock. I used TED hose, worked well. Not that I recommend TED hose, I just happened to have some. Of the three, athletic tape worked best.

Good to see you back out there! I think running with others like that IS fun.

I can handle a little or even a lot of pain, but when it physically makes me limp it's time to stop. I'm going to do a short run with the group tomorrow night and then another big slacker workout at the Y on friday morning. If all goes well, I will try another 5+ run outside on saturday or sunday.

where do they meet? Are they all super fast like you? Let me know if its fun. If its ever on Pacific and there's slow people to run with I would totally be in.

Nicole - It was a lot of fun! About 60 people showed up and people ran anywhere from 7 to 13 min miles.
