Nice run Mr consistency!

Thanks, but "Mr Consistency" should really have more than 10 miles in by Tuesday. This is no way to bust 18 in another month.

From JG on Tue, Nov 29, 2011 at 20:31:09 from 71.57.246.108

That is a lofty goal! In addition to more miles, I think more importantly you would need to be doing a whole bunch of 400' s & 800' s at a track! I had that same goal, but I deleted cause I am focused on building mileage base for Boston training ... then come May I'll start figuring out how to run sub 6 minute miles ... Which imo, boils down to getting comfortable running that pace by practicing it.

From rAtTLeTrAp on Tue, Nov 29, 2011 at 21:02:13 from 24.18.125.122

Setting easy goals doesn't make much sense! I won't be doing more than 50 mpw anytime soon, but I do plan on doing some track work once or twice a week. 10 milers in the low 6's until it starts feeling good :) I think that nice cushy track at the Y will be a good place for me to keep pushing the pace and get used to the turnover without being too hard on my legs.

From JG on Tue, Nov 29, 2011 at 21:30:57 from 71.57.246.108

Lofty goals are good, I have no doubt you will get there, just maybe not in one month ... Especially with the holidays! :)

Best of luck, you are an awesome runner ... I could never crank out the 10 plus mile runs in the low 7's with the consistency you do!

you are great no matter what you say!

JG - I don't really expect to crack 18 in a month, but it won't stop me from trying :)

April - Awwww, I bet you say that to all the boys...

From DLTheo on Mon, Dec 05, 2011 at 19:53:26 from 155.130.107.42

I agree with JG that lofty goals are great, though it may take some time. I have yet to meet any of my marathon goals I've set in the past, because I always set such tough goals. As a result, I may not meet the goals, but I take off 10 minutes from my PR every time I run. I'd rather miss my goal and still knock of 10 minutes than meet a lesser goal but only improve a few minutes.
