4:00am Ecclesiastes 8 - Isaiah 37

Thrills, hills and spills today. I started out extra early so I could get in a long run. Before I got away from the condo complex I felt the urge and turned back for another trip to the restroom. As I approached my place I tripped over a boulder at the edge of the parking area and splat! right on the pavement. Road rash on both palms, both elbows, my left knee and right hip. I think I have got to be the clumsiest runner on the blog! So I go in and take care of business, assess the damage and take some ibuprofen before I head back out the door. Reset the Garmin and away I go. Since I'm already in pain I figured why not just run 22 miles of hills today? So 4 trips down and up Steilacoom hill and 3 times on Farwest hill was the new plan. At mile 18 I got a low battery alert on the Garmin so I restarted it again hoping I wouldn't lose all my splits if it died in the middle of the run. It hung in there for another 4 miles without dying as did I for a total of 22.61. Not bad for a Thursday. Have any techies out there ever tried to replace the battery on a Garmin 305? Mine was fully charged today and doesn't appear to have a full marathon left in it on a single charge.

Wow - sorry to hear about the spill - but what a recovery! You are an amazing runner, those are great splits with hills! Btw - I loaded the Book of John tonight & headed out for an unplanned run of 8 miles ... it was exactly what I need! Thx for referring me to the download site!

How old is your Garmin? That is crazy it is borderline on a marathon distance! Sorry, I don't have any tips, other than to call Garmin and tell them that is not acceptable!

Thanks JG. I'm glad you could work some Scripture into your run. I hope you get hooked like me :)

My Garmin is almost 3 years old and I have ran about 4500 miles with it. I'm not surprised that the battery is tired.

Haha! I don't know....I am glad to know I am not alone. I am an ADHD runner. I am a running mess!

Such a great run for you today even with your spill! So excited that you are in such great shape coming up on your marathon!

Carl had the same problem with his Garmin a few months ago. I don't know what the solution was, but I think he's been able to use it since.

You might just take it to Batteries Plus.

Steam8 - This make 4 times I've crashed and burned in the last year or so. That has to be a record for the blog.

Scott - Nobody sells a direct replacement battery for it. I found some how-to pages on the web for replacing it with a higher capacity phone battery. If I can't get at least three hours out of it, I may try that. Sounds like a fun geek project anyway.
