9:00am Hebrews 5 - Jude 1

I planned on an easy long run today. It turned out longer than expected and not so easy. I was doing ok pace-wise until this stupid little taco-dog started chasing me and nipping at my ankle during mile 5. His owner was nowhere in sight and he kept at it for about a half mile. I should have just turned around and booted him across the street, but instead I picked up the pace just enough to keep out if his bite range and strung him along until he tired out. His little legs must have been hurting by the time he gave up. Sub-7 was definitely too fast for so early in my run. After I ditched the mutt, I slowed down to chat with another runner going down Steilacoom hill and ran with him for a few miles around 8:30. After we split I was ready to pick the speed back up a little and decided to run up Chambers Creek hill and loop around Lakewood on the way home. Once I got back in the neighborhood I decided to add the Oakbrook loop. About half way around I decided that I should have skipped it, but it was too late by then. I finished up with almost 18 miles at 7:26 avg. pace. After I cooled down for 30 minutes or so I did 4 more easy miles over to the park and around the lake with Kym.

Garmin external battery still reading 100%
Oh, I finally got a response back from Garmin about my dead battery. They said they will fix it for $79! I think I'll keep my $79 and save it for a 310xt. By the time my 305 dies for good the price for a new xt should be more reasonable.

You are fast even when a dog is not chasing you. I have to say that I, however, would have kicked the dang thing. I hate being chased by dogs of any size!

Now, that Garmin mess is ridiculous. My first Garmin was a piece of junk. I never would have bought another one but a guy in my running group sold me his barely used one for $50 and it has worked like a gem.

I love my Garmin. The only thing wrong with it was the battery and those aren't designed to last forever. It's just a bummer that they don't make them replaceable. My new "big ugly mod" will probably get a couple more years out of it and my left arm will get really buffed from carrying the extra weight of the extended life cell phone battery. That's a win-win right? bi-winning, just like Charlie Sheen :)

Mine was my battery, too, but it only lasted a year and then would not recharge. Oh, that and the mode button NEVER worked, but by the time I figured that out (I was new to running when I got it and used it for nothing other than to track miles for a long time) it was too late to return it.

I have had Garmin #2 for almost 4 years. ;o)

Glad the 'new' battery is doing the job. Maybe you could switch arms when wearing your watch. That way both arms can get super buff!

They don't make the battery replaceable on purpose.... of course you know this. I had the 305 (and going to try that battery mod you have, since mine has the same problem), but I did get a new 405cx - had gift card and some sale - anyway, people complain about the bezel, but I love my new one quite a bit more. I always pick up the sat. in less than 15 seconds (usually 5-10)and it just seems to work better. The 310xt does look like the best though. Oh, and yes, like Kelli said - kick the dog.
