5:00am Matthew 26 - Mark 12

It felt good to get back to my regular route on this foggy morning. I love running through Steilacoom Park when it's like this.
My quads didn't complain at all until the second trip up Farwest hill at about 8 miles so I think I can knock out a fast 5k on Saturday before they even know what hit 'em :)
My legs had a lot of spring in them on the flats and downhill stuff. The uphill sections didn't come as easy, but they were still much better than Tuesday. I'm excited to crank it up a notch after another day of rest!

Thursday night Pub Run with the Tacoma Runners. This is the first time I've ran with this group since last winter when it snowed and I spiked my asics with sheet metal screws. Today was a LOT warmer and uphill both ways. The run started and ended at the Parkway Bar and Grill in North Tacoma this week. There was probably 80-100 people there tonight and I followed the leaders just close enough to keep them in sight so I wouldn't get lost on the route. I don't think I could have run much faster this late in the day with the heat and having 11 miles in already this morning. With another day of rest and a little race day excitement I might be able to muster up a 6:05 average pace for 5k. We'll see soon enough...

You are a machine. Well done, and so fast after the marathon.

Based on your pace the last 1/100th mile of your last run, I don't think you will have any problem going sub 19! :) There is a race here in PA Sat night at 6:00 pm I think I am going to do, shooting for the same goal! I did it once, but 6:00/miles tend to zap me! You definitely have it in you, with a good race! Good luck!

Dan - Thanks. Honestly, I'm a little surprised at how fast my legs recovered. My Quads were trashed after the marathon sunday.

JG - If you've done it once why aren't you shooting for sub 18? :)

Thanks for the encouragement!

Good point ... lol ... because I know it is not realistic at 6 pm in the summer with a high of 90 something Saturday ... but that is my goal Sept. 10 on a course that has 330' net downhill! :)

Right on! The one I'm running is mostly flat with a giant stinkin' hill right in the middle.

Go beat that 5K and tell him who is boss!
