Well I was finally  able to run this morning...I decided to take it easy and just test my leg out a mile at a time. I was up at 5:30 am  and then headed out the door and I can't believe how much sun light we have lost over the last 2 and half weeks, I think fall is on the way. Started out real slow averaging around an 8:50 mile and then just kinda kept it right there for the first half of the run.The second half I slowed down alittle bit just to be safe and my legs were real tired too, average pace was 9:24 and my heart rate was alittle high at 146, total time was 56:30.  Legs felt heavy but that was to be expected, my leg was feeling pretty good on a scale of 1 to 10 pain wise it was about a 2, so that is a good sign. I think tomorrow will tell the real story on whether I can train on it or not, I will have to see if it is sore or not but all indications right now tell me it will probably feel fine, as it is not sore right now. I iced really good after the run for about 15 minutes and I will probably do it again in a while just to be safe. I have been taking Aleve every 12  hours and I seem to be getting better results with that than just regular IBprofhin... So all in all I am really pleased with the results this morning, but tomorrow will tell the story and I hope it is a good one. I also did 30 minutes of upper body weight training, two sets of each exersize with low weight and high repititions.

Well, my leg started hurting midway through the day yesterday and as the day went on it got progressivly worse. I tryed some heat on it and it seemed to help it feel better, I then woke up this morning and took a step on it and the pain was back just like it was before the layoff... I still got suited up for a run and decided I was going no matter what, I got a about a half of a block into it and I was lymping and running at the same time, and the pain was unbelievable. I stopped and said to myself suck it up and get-r-done, went about a 100 feet and could not go a step further. I then reached my hands sky ward and in the words of the revrend from Caddyshack I screemed, "RAT FARTS"!!!! After a few more expletives, I lymped my way back home (walking), I then came downstairs and hopped on the ellipitcal for 46:00 minutes and did my standard upper body core training. I must have something more serious going on here, what that is I have no clue. But it is obvious that running is out of the question, and the ellipitical is the only option at this point. I am pretty much out of good ideas at and I am at the end of my rope for any kind of good solution to this frustrating problem. I have to make a decision by the 15th, which is the cut off date to get a full refund on my hotel rooms, so I will keep up with the elliptical glider until that date and then make a decision on what to do then.

Very disappointing, to say the least...

No running again just doing the ellipitical, 47:00 minutes worth... Not much else to say, pretty disappointed but I'm sure I will get over it.

48:00 minutes on the ellipitical again this morning,  I also did some weight training on my legs and some core training on the usual areas, and that was an additional 30 minutes... I go to the Sports Medicine guy this morning so maybe he can give me some ideas as to what is wrong with my leg, and I am hoping he can get me onto the road to recovery. Other than that there is not much else to say, I am just trying to stay motivated and I think I accomplished that today, I just have to stay focused on the long term right now its the only thing that will keep me motivated...

50:00 minutes on the Ellipitical this morning... I took it pretty easy, I kept the RPM between 85 and 90, no resistance. I am going to try and go alittle longer tomorrow, maybe 2 hours if it can hold my attention for that long, we shall see...

I also did 30 minutes of upper body weight training, high reps and low weight, I also did some strectching... Leg feels pretty good too.

The Doc says I will be out for about 6 weeks maybe 8, but he will check me in 6 weeks and go from there. I will also be doing some physical therapy starting on Tuesday of next week which I was told will include some swimming, that should be real fun considering I haven't been in a pool in a great long while, hopfully I won't drown... Wish me luck!

76:00 on the elliptical glider this beautiful morning, I took the glider to places unknown today... I have never taken the calories counter pass 999, I for sure thought that my machine consel would blow-up,or something close to that. But it didn't it just turned back to zero and started over.

I was about 50 minutes in to the workout and I started to fade (attention wise) but then this song came of Journey, the classic 70's rock band and it just energized me... The song was "Anytime" and the album was "Captured". Now being 44 plus and being at the end of my rope, that song really got me going. You have to get the song and listen to it sometime because the last 2 minutes of that song is so fast, Steve Perry's voice is going 100 miles an hour and Niel Shoens guitar is keeping right up with his voice, a live audience, its just amazing. Now in your mind picture this, an old 44 year old man with long hair and that song blaring and my feet are rotating at 120 miles per hour on the RPM meter, sweat flying off hitting the walls, GOING NUTS!! It just doesn't get any better than that...

My average RPM was 95 to 110 so I really pushed it today. Get the Album that I talked about earlier, you can't go wrong.
