I ran out to mini GU corner, out and back and I have to say that my legs felt like crap! these last few days they have felt like I am continually hitting the wall, but today was the worst. A couple of times I just wanted to stop and walk and if it hadn't of been for Mack passing me with bout a half mile to go I probably would have stopped. But after she passed me I was able to pick up the pace and finish, so Thanks Mack for helping me through even though you didn't even know that you did! This is one thing that I can't understand about my legs is why they don't seem to get stronger and then I have to wonder if I'm not getting enough protein after each run to recover and help heal the muscle, I very seldom eat breakfast... Any thoughts and comments from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

Average pace was, 9:05 with my heart rate at 127 total time was 54:38 I did keep it nice and easy, but it was sure tough and it didn't feel easy!

See ya tomorrow.

Clay the no breakfast could be causing you grief. I've always heard/read that for optimal recovery after a run you need to take in some decent carbs with some protein within an hour after you finish the run. A bowl of oatmeal or cold cereal/milk is about the right proportions, yogurt is good as well, toast/banana, whatever tastes good to you. Or if you're just not a breakfast person then at least try to get down a breakfast bar or power bar or something. This could very well play a large part in the whole feeling dead-legged thing.

I totally agree with Tom - with exercising in the morning, breakfast is probably the most important meal of the day! If you're not a cereal person, try a breakfast shake or, like Tom suggested, a bar. I have actually heard the anecdote: "eat breakfast like a king; eat lunch like a rich man; eat dinner like a pauper". From a caloric intake, breakfast is probably my most calorie-dense meal. Another possibility is the amount of sleep you are getting - are you consistently getting at least 7 hrs of sleep each night?

My sleep is pretty bad most nights, I usually get 6 to 7 hours a night but then on Sunday I get like 9 hours because I am able to sleep in, my church doesn't start until 1:00pm...

Some days I will have an egg and toast if I have time, its just some mornings I don't have time, but maybe I need to make time.

Thanks, for your comments men it really does help!

You've got to take time for breakfast man. It is the most important meal of the day (cliche yet true).
