I felt really good today, and it might be that I have some motivation now that I've entered the strider's 1/2 Marathon... My legs felt good and my toe felt good and I wanted to see if I could hold a faster pace through the whole run, I wanted my average pace to be about a minute off my marathon pace... I started off a little quicker than I wanted to but I felt strong and just progressed form there, each pace a little faster and then try to hold that pace till the end. I ran to Payson Park out and back and it has some rolling hills in it so it is a little challenging my splits went as follows; 8:38(139), 8:14(148), 8:21(153) hills start. 8:12(147), 8:07(156), 7:55(159), 7:37(164), .22(701)... Average pace was 8:09 with my heart rate at 152 total time was 57:09 this is a PR for this course, with is pretty good considering the rolling hills which don't start until you are about 2.3 miles into the run.

I don't know how I will feel tomorrow for my long run but I am hoping I won't be spent, but if I am I will hold on to today's run to get me through!!!

PM- I am coming down with a cold, I have felt it coming on all day long... AHH. I am hoping that I will be able to get some miles in tomorrow but that depends on how I am feeling. I am popping vitamin C like its candy hoping to stave it off but the way my lucks been going lately, who knows!!!

Nice job on pace today Clay. Especially since it was really cold, you should be able to do this quite a bit faster in nicer conditions. Glad to hear you've signed up for Striders. That reminds me that I need to get Kim and I signed up.

Nice run today Clay. Knowing how the weather was down here I imagine you did that run in the freezing cold. Nice PR for the course as well. That always makes the effort worth it.

Hey Clay did you signup online for the 1/2 marathon? I'm trying to sign Kim and I up but it looks like on runnercard.com the only signup is for the entire Strider's series of races (3 races), not just the 1/2 marathon. We're only interested in doing the 1/2. But perhaps to pick and choose from the series we have to send snail mail registration?

Tom, I just sent it through the mail today. you can print off an entry form and just check the 1/2 marathon and then send it in... Go to the striders website to get entry form.
