Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

blaaaahhhh! Cold and tired leg run. My legs aren't sore after trying to push a little speed yesterday, but I could certainly tell they weren't fresh. Tried to hit the downhill hard and maintain a consistent effort on the uphill.

I really wish my baby would start sleeping longer stretches at night. He slept until 2:30, I fed him and then put him back in bed, but he is then just restless the rest of the night. I think I was up about once every 45-60 minutes. So, I was in bed for six hours, but it feels like I got 3 hours of sleep.  It's just harder to recover every day when you can't get a good nights rest.

AP: 8:59 splits:  9:16, 9:22, 9:27, 7:40 (the crazy downhill section), 8:07, 9:21, 9:41, 9:00 - This is Cal's rosecrest loop. It's funny, because you go uphill the first 3 miles (pretty gentle, even for me) then in about 1.5 miles you loose all your elevation (350ft) and then you spend the last 3.5 going back uphill to recover most of that lost elevation. So, to keep a 9mm even on my last uphill mile makes me very proud!

Now I'm off to boot camp and probably a few extra miles at the gym...stay tuned.

***Boot camp was LOADS of fun (can you hear the sarcasm?). We did however run enough loops in the back to do another 1.5 miles. the last 1/4 mile loop we did I pushed the pace and was breathing hard at the end. I don't know what pace it was, but I know I couldn't have held it much longer than that.

Then I finished up on the TM (after chatting for a bit) and did 2.25 - first mile at 9:22, then 9:05 then the last minute (almost .25) I did at 6:58 pace, which felt quite a bit easier than the speed outside. Gotta teach these legs how to move again!***

Oh babies up during the night is a killer. So glad that part of my life is getting over now!

Your splits are looking good Rach!

Nice running Rachel. Have you tried running that course in reverse yet? It makes the first few and the last few miles nice and gentle down hill. Now the middle portion, on the other hand...

I take back that part about the weather being nice yesterday. It was nice down here in Lehi but it was probably colder up on your hills in Herriman. I ran through a half mile stretch south of Pioneer Crossing that is open space and untouched by developers or anyone else. It must have dropped 10 degrees and I was a little chilled. I wished that I had a long sleeve shirt.

I almost forgot. Nice miles for the month of August. 195!?!? Wow!!

Nice running. Poor sleeping. But nice running.

Nice job, especially with the lack of sleep!

Wow, look at your miles this week... Excellent! I don't know how you moms with babies do it. Quite awesome Rad!

Lily, He's been a good sleeper up until these past couple weeks. It's a bit frustrating, but what can you do?

Cal, I was thinking today I ought to try it. I used to run up that hill on my long runs around the city, but haven't for a very LONG time. It scares me now!

Chad, it probably wasn't as bad as I make it out to be - I really am a pansy about the cold. Just ask my hubby! Didn't notice my monthly miles - I like it! thanks!

Paul, oh how I wish I could change the poor sleeping part. Not enough to give up this cutest little baby ever, but just for him to sleep.

Merri, I'm hoping he gets back to sleeping soon. I figure most babies are sleeping through the night by 4-5 months, so I've only got a few more to endure...

Scott, thanks! Next time he's not sleeping I'll track you down and you can pack him around on your midnight hike while I sleep :)

Girlfriend, you need a nap :) I'm just tired reading about your night and morning!

From RAD on Thu, Sep 02, 2010 at 00:13:34 from 67.172.229.125

Toby, no rest for the wicked :) I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he sleeps tonight...maybe not since my husband just let him take a 40 min nap at 9:30...ugghh.
