Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

More to come in a bit, but I want to get this posted quickly.

BBK beat down....3 miles warm-up, 2 mile tempo, 6 yasso 800's (all under 3:42) with equal amount of recovery (okay, not so good on equal amt of time!), 1 lap cool-down.

Personal trainer beat down...legs, legs, quads, legs and a little more legs. Good thing I don't need them the rest of the week :) Spin the legs out on the bike for 5 miles...ahhh, nap?

AP for the run: 8:21 - warm-up: 9:08, 8:33, 8:50 tempo: 7:54, 7:23

800's: 1- 3:42 (rest: 3:13) 2- 3:42 (2:11) 3- 3:41(1:41 + drink) 4- 3:39 (2:09 +drink) 5- 3:39 (2:22 +drink) 6- 3:38 then cool down

I'm happy with my tempo run and especially that my yasso's sped up. Since I was feeling crappy at the start (sore legs from yesterdays workout), I have confidence that I can finish a marathon in a BQ....IF my ITB's will cooperate!

No nap and hoping I can walk in the morning...a good SLOW recovery run will be in the cards if I can wake up :)

AWESOME BBK beat down and pace. WOW! Look at your diehard workouts. You're really beating down those beautiful long legs of yours! Nap away, Rachel! GREAT JOB!

Great job Rachel. I'm glad I didn't stay for the Yasso's because I never would have made it.

Reading that made me want a nap. Good job girl!

Good job out there today on the track! There weren't any dancer girls to yell at us today to get off their track. Your post-workout sounds like a plan to me! BBK day beats it up. Do you ever get that feeling when you are so tired you can't sleep? Yeah, I am strange like that.

Did you do anything besides work out today? I don't know how you would have the time.

From RAD on Tue, Sep 01, 2009 at 22:35:42 from 76.27.12.70

Smooth, THANKS! However...no rest for the wicked, glad it's finally bed time!

Nancy, it was rough today. Sorry I couldn't chat when I saw you today...trying to keep up was brutal!

Thanks Leandra!

Bec, no kidding those dancers...ugghh! who can stand them? :) I seriously am hoping I can just walk tomorrow!

Carolyn, that's why I have to start at 5 in the morning :) I was so tired AND hungry, I wish I could've just ate and slept the rest of the day! However, housework, laundry, primary and t-ball had my number today :( Still did get some good eating in though :)

From RAD on Tue, Sep 01, 2009 at 22:51:51 from 76.27.12.70

Devine, when does your taper start for TOU? What is your taper plan? Fresh legs seem to mean more that a couple of hard speed workouts at this point! 2 weeks to TOU? Totally RAD if you get those legs rested, you can PR at TOU.

Keep up the great work! I'm so impressed with all of your hard work. You'll rock at your marathon.

From RAD on Wed, Sep 02, 2009 at 14:48:22 from 76.27.12.70

Brent, normal week this week with a long run Saturday. Next week will be x-training with fewer miles, then the last week before TOU will be full on taper...fewer miles (maybe just 3-6 slow per day) no classes, just bike and NO Personal training! 2 1/2 weeks left. Thanks for the reminder that I need those fresh legs though, sometimes it's too hard to not 'cram' for a marathon!

QP - Thanks, I'm hoping I can just finish with 'happy' IT bands!
