Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

oh bother... went to the doc today. I guess the ultrasound put the baby at 5.5-6 pounds last week, she says I'm still measuring small "I don't know where you're hiding all this baby!" Other than that all is fine and she's mighty impressed that I still had a sub 10mm half in me yesterday :) I guess not too many of her patients run much...or are as bored as I am.

Legs are tired. First time I've had a hard race and no Sunday to recover.

Elliptical 35 minutes @ L8 resistance - 2.7 miles

TM walking 3mph @ 10% grade - 1.75 miles (didn't get enough hills yesterday).

I wish tomorrow was Tuesday and that everything I wanted/needed to do tomorrow fit in a TUESDAY schedule.

Spent an hour walking a running route around the 'hood. 4 miles (approx) walking with the stroller, dog and 'work' :)

Another busy day...seriously this week is CRAZY!

First Saturday of the month = 90 min spin class!! YEA!! I LOVE it!

Only got there early enough for 1/2 mile before class (I do love sleep!), so I did a few laps around the track, then got my spin on for 1.5 hrs. It really was a good class, I look forward to it each month and wish they'd do it every Sat as at least an option to class. I finished up with another 1/2 mile on the track after class.

I promised Hubby I'd get home ASAP so that he could go rock climbing since he missed it due to weather last Sat on his birthday (belaying and rock climbing are a few things I'm NOT allowed to do now). After I got home I had the neighbor keep an eye on the kids while I ran the regular 'ol 5K route around the 'hood. I felt really good and strong, but didn't wear my garmin because I didn't want to feel pressure to run fast. Now I wish I would've - I think I would've hit some good paces! I took Lucy (my puppy) with me and she couldn't keep up with me during the last mile. I had to keep calling her to keep up - it could've been the warmer weather too, but I'll take a 'win' anyway I can get it :)

Then I got stuck with yard work again this week - next week I'm NOT doing it! Plus, it make the neighbors nervous, they always say "be careful - I don't know what to do if you go into labor!" :) Then it was off to Thanksgiving Point for the kids to run and play in the gardens, came home dropped off my 'work' and went to a pool party for a HS graduate, got home went next door for a backyard birthday party and I'm finally getting to sit down. *WHEW* These next two weeks until baby comes are going to go WAY too fast if this keeps up. I need more time to get baby prep done!

Another crazy busy day...life doesn't slow down for anything, even having a baby!

Up at the crack of dawn, but no running for me. I got to sit in front of the school for 90 minutes waiting to do track change...yyeeaaaa (insert sarcasm).

Didn't get full gym time, because of having to get home for 'work' and getting stopped on the way to the gym by primary stuff I had to deal with....yyeeeeaaa (more sarcasm)

45 min on the TM @ 10% grade at 3.2 mph...I think 2.3 total miles. Rushed home for 'work' and I was still late, thanks clocks at the gym for being 15 minutes slow instead of the normal 5 today....yyeeeaaa

Now I get to entertain 'work' all day and then try to get SOMETHING done around the house *sigh* I really would like just one day to sit and breathe....and maybe get ready for baby coming in two weeks!

Lagoon day!

Went to my doctor's apt early and she is still concerned about my lack of size :) So, she actually had me stay for a non-stress test to make sure that baby was still happy. Nothing noteworthy to report. She saw plenty of fluid, plenty of baby and he jumped around quite happily for about 15 minutes on the monitor. Doc is simply perplexed as to where all this baby and fluid and everything is hiding since my measurements aren't increasing each week.

After having a sound mind about baby Fartlek we dashed up North for a fun filled day at Lagoon. I, of course, hung out with my 3 year old in kiddie land and we went on a few 'big' rides like the sky ride and ferris-wheel. A fun day out with the family, but I am exhausted now! My feet haven't hurt this bad in a long time. Walking and standing all day feel worse on my feet and legs than anything I've done the last few months.

So, I guess you could call this a rest day - although I don't feel very rested right now :)

I'm pooped! Not enough sleep, I'm tired still from yesterday and then today was zoo day with the Kindergarten. Walking all over the zoo, sack lunches again and then afterward ANOTHER doctors appointment (not for me). At least I'm home now...just floors and kitchen to do.

Hopefully we'll get to the gym tomorrow, but I've got one more doctors appointment (again, not me!); however, that's then it for the day and I can come home and hopefully get something done - BEFORE dinner time! Seriously...I'd like life to slow down for a few minutes and let me relax with everything done.

I'm so far behind in life that I totally forgot to blog for TODAY :)

60 min on the elliptical @ L9

Good workout, but nothing compared to all the 'deep' cleaning I did on floors/walls/windows today. I am 100% decided that health insurance for maternity care should include a 'deep clean' of the baby's home 1-2 weeks from delivery so that both mom and baby can come home to a clean house, and that mom doesn't have to do it all!!! Do you know how hard it is to clean baseboards when you've got a 6 pound kid in your gut? More importantly, does anyone other than me even appreciate the clean baseboards?

Went to the gym and did total body fitness. It was mostly weights and little cardio, so after wards I decided to do my .2 mile loop in order to do a mile, just one. When you're running and the only thing you think about is what you'd do if your water broke while you were running and how to take your kids somewhere before you got to the hospital and what you need to do before YOU go to the hospital, I think maybe you shouldn't be running :)

I was going to go back in and finish up my 30 minutes on the elliptical, but I had NINE missed calls on my phone. I called my hubby back, and found out I'd dropped off my Kindergartner today, and he didn't have school! OOPPPS! Can I blame this on baby brain? I forgot they have testing the next few days and no school. Ugghhh, I felt HORRIBLE! Because they couldn't get a hold of me my hubby called the neighbor and she had gone to pick him up. He'd only been sitting around for an hour!

Wow, I really need to have this baby and get my brain functioning again and slow down a bit. I was just SO excited to go to the gym and get a full workout in this morning, priorities, right? I guess I truly am crazy!

Got up early to run 3 miles before spin class; however, I had a wedding this morning to attend. After all the mental worry I put myself through yesterday during the run, I decided against running. More or less for the mental stability :) See...I am starting to not be so crazy anymore!

30 min on the elliptical @ L8

Spin class - it was a good one this morning! I was a little taken aback when I thought about the fact that I only have one more spin class until baby comes. One lady said to me today "when you come back I won't know what to call you, because I can't call you the crazy pregnant lady anymore." I told her she can simply call me Rachel :)

Wedding, reception (WAY too much yummy treats!), then a couple hours shopping at the baby store - mostly for fun, but I did need to pick up a few necessities. I now finally feel like if I went into labor that I wouldn't go CRAZY. Only a few more checks on the list for baby to come worry FREE!

Nuttin'!

Kindergarten testing I had to be home for this morning - not enough time to go to the gym and my 3 year old slept until 10:30 and by then I was well into my projects and didn't want to stop for the gym. Meh...oh well :)

On the bright side I did get ALL the baby stuff washed and folded and the changing table, car seat, bouncer and bassinet are ready to go! All I now need to do is actually PACK a bag to take to the hospital, I have all the stuff - just not all in one place.

Hopefully, my last doctor's appointment tomorrow...

Met the BBK's this morning. When I got the email yesterday a certain word caught my attention: TRACK. I've been wanting to go to group for about a month now, but didn't want to have to run hard to keep up or be alone. When I saw track workout, I knew I could have my cake and eat it too! I could get my running friend fix before baby, I could walk or run as slow as needed for the hour and still see everyone and chat. So, I made the effort to get up and go this morning. It was SO worth it!

With only a week left, I think most were a little surprised to see me :) I ran the first 2 non stop with Nancy, then we did a walk 1 lap, run 2 until she needed to leave. After checking what time it was (the group had gone to the road for a tempo after their 800's), I came back did another full mile and then the last one was just picking up a lap or two here and there with people running their last 'cool down' laps. I was happy to get out with good running friends and have a beautiful run in the sunrise! It was perfect! Thanks all who entertained me during my shuffle today :)

No pace, left the garmin at home. I'd think it was close to a 10mm though.

Now to kick the kids out of the house and I'll go to the gym and get some elliptical/reading time in and then off to the doctor's. Crossing my fingers it's a go that this really will be my last appointment and I'll be induced next Tuesday if I don't go on my own by then.

***Well, it's official. Only one more week pregnant, if that. I got the final nod for induction next Tuesday, so if I'm still pregnant then and they have room for me at the hospital I will have the baby in one week. Excited to be done, but nervous/anxious about all the work and sleepless nights and TINY little being to take care of. Guess I should've thought about that a few months ago :) ***

Surgery day today. Since we had to be up and out early no workout for me this morning. My 3 yr old's surgery went GREAT and now we get to hang out at home all day doting on him. No problems with that for me :)

Yup, fell asleep at 10 on the couch trying to watch the news. Went to bed around midnight, then slept till 8. I feel GREAT today!!

Hit the gym, 60 min on the elliptical @ L8 - total of 4.5 miles. Feet were falling asleep, so I moved to the TM. 30 min, 10% grade @ 3.2 mph - total of 1.5 miles.

Had a great time reading and chatting with everyone at the gym. Wow, I really can't believe I only have 5 days left, or 5 'sleeps' as I would explain to my kids :)

60 min spin class - good hard class! I'll miss it next week.

30 min on the TM, regular 'ol 10% grade @ 3.0 mph - 1.5 miles total. I then slowed it down for a couple minute cool down and got into my book and walked another 17 minutes :) but it was a super slow 2.0 mph pace or something.

Fun date with my daughter this afternoon, and then to the BBQ to see Burt this evening! If you haven't seen the post check out Kelli's blog

Step class this morning, I really miss our teacher that had a baby last month. The sub just isn't as good. Heidi will be trying to come back starting next Monday, so I'll have to wait even longer for her *sigh* I did get a good workout though - she at least kept us moving!

Then I went out to the TM to chat with Kelli as she finished up her daily marathon :)  30 minutes @ 10% grade, 3.2 mph.

Now I'm working on the final scrub down of the house so I can sit back and not have to deal with cleaning for at least a week, then make my slave husband do it the next :)

Here's to hoping that I get to keep my induction apt tomorrow AM and that by evening I've got some good news to spread around! I'm trying not to be pessimistic, but I think waiting SO long to have a baby kind of makes you that way...

Got my first walk in today. I may not win the award for miles this week...but maybe the earliest workout :)

2 AM walk/meander around the circle and back...around the circle and back...for a good 30-40 minutes talking with my favorite running partner and listening to the dogs, airplanes, crickets, birds and trees. Beautiful full moon...I'm sure we'll be up for the eclipse tomorrow morning around 4:30 AM :) Good excuse for another early morning 'workout'!
