Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Wow, we had an amazing time in Moab this past weekend! I brought my running stuff, but honestly was a pansy about running alone in a strange city. Plus, all we did was hike all day so I figured I was getting 'movement' in - so I didn't worry too much.

Saw some trail runners a few times, was a little envious! I did however chase, race and play with my kids on the trails a lot, so I probably got at least a mile or so in :) We did probably about 6-8 miles each day, of different hikes - some short some longer - but my kids were GREAT troopers! Even my almost 3 year old only got 'backpacked' twice, usually in the afternoon and on the way back from a long hike out. It really was great!

I LOVE Moab and the area, it was nice to get away from the rat race of 'normal' life and enjoy quiet, peaceful, beautiful nature for a while!

Went back to the gym this morning *sigh* wish I had more hiking on the docket and not the gym, but back to life we go.

Did step class, which was a 'mover' today. I don't think we stopped once! It was a tough class this morning, I'm glad I got some practice 'stepping' this weekend on all the trails :)

Then I hit the TM for some miles just to make sure I could still do it! I started nice and slow to ease into it (SERIOUSLY slow...like 11:30 mm) then by .4 miles or so I'd gotten up to 10mm. I stayed around there for the rest of the time finishing the 3 at an AP of  9:50mm. Felt good to run again! I'm hoping to get to BBK's tomorrow, but if not I may sleep in and just do 6 around the 'hood here :)

Oh, yeah, I hope to see you tomorrow morning since we did not get to talk much today.

Glad you had a wonderful vacation. You deserved a nice little break. Hiking all day sounds absolutely awesome. And your kids are troopers! By the end of the vacation you would've been "backpacking" me!

Sounds like a wonderful hiking vacation! Puts a smile on my face picturing you and your little troopers having a grand time in beautiful Moab!

Kelli, I hope I can get up tomorrow...we'll see what my motivation level is at 5AM :)

KP, my hubby had more than enough - and constantly called me crazy when I would run down the trail racing my kids at 6PM after a long day of hiking :) He says it'll take him 4 months to recover!

Smooth, it really was amazing! Most people would laugh and smile at the little ones - there weren't many around. I'm much more of an 'outdoor' vacation mom than a 'disneyland' vacation mom!!

As a side note...I'm REALLY REALLY REALLY ticked that I forgot on Sat AM to register for Hobble Creek :( I've wanted to run it the last 2 years, and was sure I'd get it this time - STINK!!! uggghhh...oh well, maybe next year...

You can always run the Park City Half, same day, less downhills, less crowded and fun family cheering opportunity!

From KP on Mon, May 03, 2010 at 16:40:04 from 65.208.22.25

people like me (i.e. slow people) thrive on the downhills. that is the only way i could do decent in a race, smooth! we aren't all as good as you...

;)

Your vacation sounds like a lot of fun. Are you going to keep running until the day you have your baby? I think all that hiking was good exercise and it sure sounded fun.

I'm glad you had a nice vacation. Your family is darling.

I'll be the devil on your left shoulder. I'd sleep in tomorrow if I were you.

From RAD on Mon, May 03, 2010 at 21:04:26 from 67.172.229.125

Smooth, I honestly was thinking the same thing. Good excuse to hit the cooler mtns, plus I could drag the parade along :)

KP, It's got good downhills...but it's an 'up and back' route :)

Nancy, I sure hope so! I love hiking (dare I say) more than I love running!! I thought the hiking would get the bug out of me for the next couple months, but I think I'll have to hit the trails around here in the next month too!

Carolyn, you don't need to be the devil on my shoulder...he's always there with a pillow tempting me to sleep :) Even at noon!

If you like Moab know, just wait till you do the Moab 1/2 Marathon. The course is beautiful and fast. Keep up the good work woman....can't wait to run and train with you again. We/ve got to get you Boston Qualified.....

From Michelle on Tue, May 04, 2010 at 10:07:49 from 216.160.142.30

I'm glad you had such a great time in Moab. It is always fun to get away and have some play time. Good work on your continuing fitness. I think about you often as I am trying to get through a run. You are further along then me and running more, I am not sure how you do it.

From RAD on Tue, May 04, 2010 at 14:27:36 from 67.172.229.125

Tom, I've wanted to do the Moab 1/2 for a while now! It's just the timing and lottery that usually messes me up. I know I'll get to Boston, it may be a longer road than I want, but I'll get there!

Michelle, funny, but I often think of you too! You are doing a great job staying consistent and forging through it all. I just think about the training I'm doing with all the extra weight - and how fast I'll be when I drop 20 pounds in 4 weeks :)
