Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Got my lazy butt out of bed early for a good 8 miles. My goal was to keep the pace at or below 8mm - I want to do shorter runs with a faster pace, quality not quantity this week. I did a warm-up mile, stretched (to see how stretching pre-run will affect ITB) then took off for another 4. It was up and down through the 'hood, you wouldn't think my neighborhood is too hilly until you try to bike or run it! I dropped Lucy off at home then hit the stake 5K route that goes past my house. I did it 'backward' to have a 1/3 mile downhill home, but DANG!! The uphills were tougher than I remember running it the right way. AP for entire run was 8:11, not too bad for the hills, but not as good as I would've liked. I couldn't look at my garmin, because I had to keep my sleeve over the garmin to cover my FREEZING hands!

Then I hit the gym for step class...today I decided that this class really is a GOOD x-training class - keeps my HR up high for nearly the whole class. Afterward I hit the TM for 2 more speed miles - did .5 at 8 mm then .25 at 6:35 mm; It was good, until the stinky TM's kept turning off, blowing a breaker turning off. Frustrating to have to keep jumping around, so I 'm sure I did more than 2, but got it done either way.

I finally got to the last 7-10 minutes of Ab's class, stretched and came home for a yummy protein bar. I'm going to speak this outloud so I will do it...I am going to eat better so that my body is in top health for Ogden - NO MORE JUNK DAYS!!! And please feel free to ask and check on my persistance with eating well. I need to start eating to run and NOT running to eat :)

RAD,

Wow! That was a great workout. You are hitting some really nice pace miles. You've got the speed workouts going on. You are really going to kick some behind at your first marathon.

On top of all that you hit the step class. Wow-wee.

AWESOME run with hills and speedy pace! You're peaking right. YAY for the dedication in eating! So happy for you. I will go and read your race report later. Gotta take son to violin. When, where and how many for Sat. run?

I'm glad I didn't know when I showed up that Saturday, how fast you and Smooth were. Good thing one warned me! I would have freaked out much sooner than mile 15. You guys made it seem so easy. We were just chatting, going along in the snow. I guess it was a good thing it was snowing so hard, or else I never, NEVER could have kept up! You are going to rock Ogden. I'm excited for you. We should go on another run though, when you have a throw-away long run. I love to talk nutrition/food.

Thanks all!! I did well today eating..I did have 1.5 cookies for FHE treat - chocolate mint cookies (so simple, easy and yummy with cake mix!!). But that was all - other wise I did good!

I think we should do another Saturday in Lehi - its a good mid-point. I'm in for 7 AM or earlier, or anywhere else anyone wants to go :) Nice and easy for me Saturday, I'm tapering....hehehe
