Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Hip is still SLIGHTLY tender, but I figure I'd better wait a week of no pain before starting back to walking again :( SO SO bummed!!! I really wanted to run on my birthday (2/15) but it's not looking likely.

I was ready to get to boot camp this morning, but the kids all were sleeping and after a long hard day yesterday I didn't want to wake them. So, I got to the gym too late for class - I was ticked, because it was a GOOD resistance class and not a lot of cardio (jumping etc I shouldn't do). STINK! Well, a day with happy kids is worth it...right?

did 60 min on the elliptical at L8. Good sweat fest, but didn't get my expected 30 min of bike in the middle because Wed is story time at the library and I had to get the kids next door to the library. Still a good work out and the way I feel (tired, sore and a little (tummy) sick today) it's probably for the best.

RADster-

You're dedicated for sweating so much on the elliptical and making it to story time too. A great mommy and a great athelete too.

Hope you're feeling better tomorrow, and I hope your hip soreness goes away speedy-quick. I read that Sonic's new sweetheart cherry-chocolate shake has healing powers :-)

Extra sleep and story time for the kids and you still got in an hour on the elliptical. I think you've done a good job.

Brent, once a groupie...always a groupie :)

QP- I think I'll have to make a drive-by today and test it out!

Carolyn- thanks! I still need more sleep :)

Great job working out and being a good mom. It is a lot to balance sometimes. I hope your hip gets feeling better soon.

You are still working out HARD!! Nice job! I am sorry about the running by your birthday, just make it a goal to run by my birthday!! That will be a great present to me!!

Take care!

From RAD on Wed, Feb 10, 2010 at 19:47:44 from 67.172.229.125

Thanks Michelle, I'm usually a little more selfish and make my kids adapt to my schedule...so I conceded this once :)

Kelli, your b-day may be out too :( Talked to the PT today. After 3 days of no pain (assuming I just irritated it and didn't fully re-fracture) I can walk for 20 min and then increase 5-7 min every 3-4 days. Once I'm to 45 min and can do that for 5 days with no pain, then I can start run 1 min walk 10 - run 1 walk 10. Increasing 2/8 3/7 every 3 days with no pain. UGGGHHH! It will be December before I can run again at this pace!! I swear I'm going to SCREAM!!!!

From Kelli on Wed, Feb 10, 2010 at 21:14:33 from 71.219.89.82

Okay, well then you can walk by me on the treadmill for my birthday. Actually, my birthday is a Saturday, so if it is nice we can go out for a walk! Better yet, let's bag all of the exercise and go OUT and celebrate both of our birthdays with food and fun!!!!

Just give it time, be smart, don't push, it will all come around.

From Nancy on Wed, Feb 10, 2010 at 22:13:27 from 76.27.19.206

I'm glad you can spend time with your kids along with all your exercise. I'm sorry about the hip. I know you would love to be running. I know I'd have a hard time if I couldn't run. Be patient and all things will work for your good.

From RAD on Wed, Feb 10, 2010 at 22:44:13 from 67.172.229.125

Kelli, I say bag the walk and let's eat!! I'd even get a sitter for a lunch date :) Eating is about the only thing I can do to my hearts content right now!

Nancy, it is hard. Talking to the PT today I was just crying - can't help the tears when you know it's going to be a good couple months more....

RAD- keep your chin up. You've got so much going for you right now, and maybe this break will be the medicine your ITB needs to get in shape too.

Listen to your Dr, listen to your friends, and listen to your body. We all love you & want you back asap, but not if it's going to hurt you.

Did I mention there's great bone-building calcium in that Sonic sweetheart shake?????
