For the Love of Go 5K This was not really a target race. Just jumped in because Callie came home and wanted to run it. Couldn't really decide if I wanted to attempt a PR or just run for fun. Running 50+ miles this week with no real speed training hasn't really set me up for a PR. I warmed up for 2 miles @ a 8:15 pace and got back to the start about a minute after the race had started. I decided to wait for everyone to start so I was the last across the start line. :-) started out at a comfortable pace but not really pushing it, still deciding how hard I wanted to run. After about a half mile I picked it up a little. Some rolling hills kept it from being really easy so I just settled into a hard but comfortable speed. After the second mile I decided to hurt a little so I started to pick up the pace. It was actually kinda fun passing almost everyone in the race. (I think there were over 250 runners.) Ended up 2nd overall and 1st in my age. Was announced as a "Boston Qualifier". :-) 6:38 6:35 6:16 19:43 total (Forgot to stop my watch at the end so not sure of the exact distance. ) |
