The SOJO half started in Cooperton in the sun at about 8:10 and dropped in elevation 1200 feet to the river bottoms of South Jordan.  The 1st 11 miles have all the drop and the last 2 miles are flat running along the river bottom.  When I finished the temperatures were only in the mid to upper 60's.  This was the first year of the race and I think they had to many people register for a 1st year run.  I think between the full, half and 5K they had over 800.  Anyway, they had busing problems.  About 2 or 3 buses worth started at 8:30.  They also sent the half marathon on the same finish as the full marathon which added about .3-.4 tens of a mile to the half.  However, the finish was great food wise.  I love Fat Boy Ice Cream sandwiches.  They had bagels, and muffins and fruit etc...

I'm not sure what place I came in because I had to leave to get to Soccer games.  However, I do know that I got chicked.

I came in 10th overall out of 450 and 1st of 12 in my age division.

I tried to hold back a little so I wouldn't waist my legs for St. George, I decided I'd try to run around 7 minute miles.  Taunia meet me on her bike for a couple of miles around mile 6 & 7 and I slowed down so I could talk better.  When I hit the river path I decided to push the pace.  The 1st mile on the path felt pretty good but the 2nd mile started hurting and then when the race went 0.4 miles long it kept hurting more than I was hoping for.  I probably passed about 5-6 people on the river path and a few of them looked like they were around my age division.

My Garmin said Miles 13.54 at an average of 6:59 mile pace.  The last .54 miles were at a 6:50 pace.
