Five miles plus some rope jumping, push-ups and sit-ups.

Lots of walking too. I walked about 4 miles yesterday to Chick fil a and back with the kids and 3 miles today with Andy and around Sugar House Park. I try to walk a lot and keep track of it when I'm in reduced training mode like I am now so I can keep my weight the same.

I've been thinking about racing the USATF cross country championships in Boulder in February. An 8k cross country race seems like fun and it would be good for my coaching to stay connected. It would be fun to put together a masters team.

I keep feeling like I'm almost obligated to run the XC champs in Boulder. Quick / cheap flight, great location for XC, fun place to visit, competition will be top-notch. The fact that it's a 12K for me makes it more appealing. But then I also think that would be a great time of the year to go down to Mexico and hit the beach. Or just ski. So it's a tough call.

If you look at the newest utah running magazine, Lloyd Hansen talks about wanting to put together a masters team for Boulder.

Hmmm...also thinking of the Masters half marathon championship...in Florida in February.

Run the race Jake. I've made it 50 years without once being to a beach in Mexico. I survived!

Of course growing up in Southern California and Florida made beaches no big deal.

Hopefully I'll bounce back in time this fall to knock out another good race or two before the holidays, and then I'll be happy actually just stick to easy base training over the winter.

But if that doesn't happen and I have the itch to race, I would consider it.

Jake, Thanks for mentioning the Utah Running Magazine. I had never heard of it before. I looked it up and found it to be quite a good magazine.

I even saw Rob listed there as the top in Utah this last year for his age division in both the 5K and 10K.

Congrats Rob!!!

If I weren't going to be in Japan in February I would loved to have run in the Master XC race in Boulder.

Glad you mentioned that Mark. I should have pointed out to Rob that he was mentioned a couple times in that same issue!
