Keep running and racing consistently for as long as I can. Find what is sustainable for me over the long run.

More treadmill miles.

Dreadful news today from the fiscal cliff front. Turns out that if we plunge off said cliff in a few days the price of milk in the U.S. will likely double. My kids drink little else besides milk and cutting back would be traumatic. Apparently the reason for the increase would be a sharp reduction in federal subsidies to the dairy industry. Will also impact butter and cheese and all dairy products.

Might have to just get used to it. I guess the price of most of our food is artificially low due to federal subsidies.

Actually, it's dumber than that. It would increase because the government would have to buy it per some 1940's law that would make them purchase it at a higher price, driving up cost for everyone. And, the article even says that milk isn't subsidized today- in fact the government puts a price floor. So, they are actually making us pay more today. Either way, milk costs more cause of the government.

Yeah, I ha d to read it a few times to fully understand it and how silly it was. Current situation is price floor that ensures we don't get cheap milk. Next situation will be mandatory high prices. Awesome. I'm with you- milk for 4 kids won't be cheap.

I remember when I was a kid and my dad was out of work for a while - we had to drink Carnation powdered milk. It was OK on cereal but not so good to drink.

Might have to resort to that.
