I am bummed about this flu thing that I can't get rid of.  It knocked me out of the Salt Lake Track Club15k, made Del Sol super miserable (I about killed myself) and could knock me clean out of Moab.  I haven't even really run at all this week and am not sure what to do about Saturday?  I guess I could still go for the half and just run a lot slower, or try to sneak into the 5 miler at the last minute, or give my number to someone else?  Any suggestions would be nice.

On top of everything today I turned 29 and I have been miserable all day.  I was hoping for a good couple of runs today, but with hardly any sleep and feeling this sick it isn't going to happen.

Happy Birthday Padawan.

I think a run is a perfect gift to yourself on a birthday so it's extra hard to be sick and not up to it. Well, I guess running is good, but sleep is better so I would advise early to bed and late to rise for a couple of days to try to kick it.

Hope you feel better soon buddy. And happy birthday. 29 is old. Like really old. I can't imagine I'll ever turn 29.

You can transfer to 5-mile at the expo on Friday. It costs $5 to transfer this late though.

Hey, HAPPY B-DAY!! 29 is soooo young! Hope you get feeling better.

Sorry about the flu. Happy Birthday nontheless. I'm guessing the loss of 36 hours of sleep this weekend didn't really help you out much. For being sick you really ran amazing. Try to get better and only run the half if your feeling really pumped and fresh. Otherwise just have Paul cook you a BR-Burger or whatever he calls them.

I guess I'll say Happy Birthday, too! And don't feel old - I have 3 siblings older than you! And I just noticed that your blog title and MichelleL's are inverses; it made me laugh.

Happy Birthday old man. I gotta get you out of my age group. Only 1 more year.

From Jody on Wed, Mar 05, 2008 at 22:07:12

Happy Birthday!! Get feeling better!

From James on Wed, Mar 05, 2008 at 22:42:59

Thanks guys! I don't really feel too much older, other than the being sick part. Paul and Clyde, you aren't too far behind me.

The five miler might be the way to go on Saturday.

From Lybi on Wed, Mar 05, 2008 at 22:49:31

Sorry you're sick! This totally should not count for a birthday, with you being all miserable and all. Try postponing 29 until next year.

By the way, I am in awe that you ran so well in the relay with this bug! Yuck, but wow! And good luck this weekend.

From Brent on Wed, Mar 05, 2008 at 23:12:23

James, Happy Birthday, my two girls and two of my boys are older than you. You are just hitting your running prime. It seems you have had much stress in your life the last couple of months with the changes. Hope you feel well enough to run Moab. Very hard mentally to run a race when you not feeling well. I wish those commando points were medicine man magic and could make you better by saturday.

Yeah are you still sick? Im pushing vitamins like crazy. My run tonight was tough. I could feel congestion as I ran. We'll see how it goes. Id like to get a top 10 finish again this year. I still cant get over your sasha in his pink shorts. Too bad you didnt get him doing his "business and losing his light and phone" that would be classic! We had a little too much fun didnt we?

From Jon on Wed, Mar 05, 2008 at 23:38:02

Did Sasha lose his light, too?

Happy Birthday! 29- I'm glad I'll never be that old! Hope you start feeling better. If not, pull a Paul and just don't run! Sleep!

Happy birthday young man! Start feeling better so you can have a better run in Moab.
