Running Accomplishments:

I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year.

Personal:

I have been an educator for 32 years. My wife, Margaret, and I have 6 children and at the present time 6 grandchildren. Running helps to keep me level. I love it and hope to continue to run for many years to come.

AM run. 48:54 with 9:46 pace. Mile loops. 59 degrees with slight wind. 9:42, 9:46, 9:46, 9:52, and 9:44 with 5 sec to finish. HR 129 with max of 140. VO 2 Max back to 48. Had been 49 for 9 runs prior to going down to 44 last week. I had run that run 3 hours before my 16 hours of rest was over. I did that so I could get to work on time. I guess need to wait the full rest time.

AM run hilly long course. 1:26:16 with 10:39 pace. 77 degrees with 15 mph wind. 10:35, 10:34, 11:18, 11:12, 10:37, 10:48, 10:09, and 9:56 with 1:06 to finish. HR 125 with 139 max.

41:26 with 10:19 pace. PM run. App said it was 84 degrees when I started and 83 degrees at the end. Porch thermometer said it was 91 degrees when I started and 90 degrees at the end. I was going to run 6 today but it was just too hot. I didn’t run early because I had too many things I needed to get done today. HR 133 with max of 144.
