Running Accomplishments:

I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year.

Personal:

I have been an educator for 32 years. My wife, Margaret, and I have 6 children and at the present time 6 grandchildren. Running helps to keep me level. I love it and hope to continue to run for many years to come.

30.1 with 9:57 pace. PM Eagar. Three mile loops. 9:53, 10:01, and 10:01 with 15 sec. to finish. Couldn’t move in the morning and didn’t want to run so hard that my watch would tell me tomorrow morning was too soon for a run. HR 135. Wind was 26 mph.

56:58 with 11 min pace. HR stayed high for some reason. Ave was 165. Fastest mile was 10:40. Slowest was 11:12. Was in neighborhood so minimal hills. Wind was only 12 mph. VO 2 Max went down to 44 with run.

PM run. 1:13:33 with 10:13 pace. Wind 13 mph. 70 degrees. Hilly course. 9:54, 9:59, 10:29, 10:42, 10:23, 10:00, and 10:02 with 2:04 to finish. HR 133 with a max of 143. Felt much better than Tuesday.
