Running Accomplishments:

I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59.

Short-Term Running Goals:

I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year.

Personal:

I have been an educator for 32 years. My wife, Margaret, and I have 6 children and at the present time 6 grandchildren. Running helps to keep me level. I love it and hope to continue to run for many years to come.

PM Eagar. 49:57 with 9:48 pace. Windy 24+ mph. 9:37, 9:37, 9:55, 9:49, and 10:02. Though about going six but decided against it. HR 147. Neighborhood run but the wind more than made up for having fewer hills.

PM Eagar. 1:05:00 with 10:19 pace. 14 mph winds. I wasn’t feeling it. Tried to cut the hills out and ran parts of several courses that I have run before. 9:46, 10,22, 10:57, 10:25, 10:07, and 10:23 with 2:59 to finish .3 miles. HR 125. First half mostly up and second half mostly down.

Ran with Dallin and Levi first 2 miles. Oakleigh ran the first mile too. We stopped every mile but I kept the clock through 3.1. That was 28:48 with 9:17 pace. 9:35, 8:54, and 9:21 with HR 137. Just ran mile loop in the neighborhood. After coming back and doing a short run with Coral and Hurley, I decided to run one more alone. Ran one mile loop in 8:40. HR was 133. Both runs had little or no wind.
