| Member Since: Nov 27, 2016 Gender: Male Goal Type: Other Running Accomplishments: I have run 12 marathons, 5 since major surgery in 2005. My fastest was Leipzig in 1992. 3 hours 11 minutes 48 seconds. The Mesa-Phx Marathon on February 25, 2017 was the fastest since my surgery at 4:26:59. Short-Term Running Goals: I want to improve on my last Marathon time. After the Phoenix Marathon that I ran February 25, 2017 I want to focus on shorter races and do a sprint tri. I did improve about 45 minutes faster on the Mesa-Phx Marathon over the last Petrified Forest Marathon and about 27 minutes faster than the last time I ran the Mesa-Phx Marathon. Long-Term Running Goals: Continue to run and work on my speed. Do shorter races and a sprint tri in the next year. Personal: I have been an educator for 32 years. | Got eye drops Wednesday night. Went to Dr. Thursday afternoon. Got an oral antibiotic too. Eyes are feeling better but everything else is keeping me down. If I feel great later today I may run some on the treadmill.
I have been putting some thought into why i am running as slowly as i am at 5000 feet. I don't know if the cold and the amount of clothing i am wearing is affecting it or not. I didn't think there was any way i could run my marathon two weeks ago as fast as i did with as many miles under 9 Minute pace as i did. I have run some that fast at 5000 ft but not consistently. The hills seem to get to me as well. I don't know if i really need to save as much as i do for the end of each run but i don't speed up often. Just typing as i think. I do think that having access to a track one a week or more would help me with my pacing.
