Short-Term Running Goals:

It's been a challenging year so far since Boston 2011.  When I got home from Boston my world changed when I found out I had some pretty severe food allergies. Since being tested I have been focused on building my health back up which has been a long slow process. What a difference it's made and I feel extremely blessed. For years I knew something was wrong and it's amazing to finally know that food can actually be a persons medicine to live a healthy life. 

Long-Term Running Goals:

I'm hoping to start building more miles when I can and be injury free.  Maybe one of these days I'll be fast. Just for now I'm just very happy to be running.

Personal:

Happily married to Marlin Ordway. We've got 4 grown children between the two of us.  It's been fun watching them go through life - making mistakes and picking themselves back up.  I love seeming them happy and succeeding.

We came home from the cabin early this morning to make it to church.  After church I went and ran Sunnyside hill.  I had never run it before and really wanted to see what it was all about.  I was happy to run 3 miles up before turning around.  I had only planned on a 5 mile run for the day. But, was happy to do 7 for the day.  Stopped at Sams Club for a few things and then home to eat dinner with my parents.  Marlin had gone out running.  My sister and her 2 girls came over for dinner also.  Great weekend.

Early morning run.  Nice cool weather. Just had time for 6 miles.   

Ran after work today.  It was pretty warm, but managed to run 7.25 miles.  My legs were alittle tired from this morning.

Intervals at the gym before work.  Total of 7 miles.  I decided not to run after work.

Ran 5x1200 w/400 recovery. 1 mile warmup. 7:35 (153) - 7:30 (158) - 7:19 (165) - 7:08 (169) - 7:03 (172). Finished with 2 mile cooldown between Zone 1 & 2.

I had a good run in the morning.  I like that it's so cool and quite.  Ran 7 miles before work at a pretty easy pace.  It's been nice running around the river super early.  Hurried home and got ready for work.

After work I went back down to the river and ran 5 miles.  It was pretty warm, but was glad to do another 5 for the day.  With the training class I've been in the last week it's been nice to run since some days have been long and stressful.

I didn't run this morning because I wanted to not be tired for running this afternoon.  I wanted to do my Thurs. tempo run.  I did get alittle bit of stretching in before work.  After work I went straight to the gym.  Marlin was already there. He had already finished his run.  My sister showed up right after I got there.  She's wanting to do the Century Ride on Aug. 20th.  So, she was there to ride the bike.  I started with a 1 mile warm up and then started to bump up the speed.  I kept the pace at 8:13 for quite a few miles and my HR didn't go up to high.  It was in the upper end of Zone 1.  As I increased my speed to 7:47  my sister Kelly and Marlin came over to talk. It was alright for awhile, however, I was trying to focus on running. After they left I increased my speed to 7:41.  By the end of my tempo I was at 7:35.  Boy, did that make me happy.   Maybe some day I'll be able to maintain that pace for longer.  I cooled down for a couple of miles and ended with 10.75 miles.  After running I made sure to do a few arm weights and stretched really well.     Other than my workout today work had an amazing BBQ.  They grilled steaks!  They were huge!   I ended up eating just part of mine and bring the rest of it home.  In 11 yrs I haven't seen them put on quite a good of BBQ.   Tomorrow I'm going to do an easy run in the morning.

I was almost tired today running.  The further I went the better it got.  I was just glad it was friday.  No run this afternoon.   Met up with Marlin after work and went to Teton Running Store.  Then dinner at Stockman's.  I really look forward to going to eat on Fridays.  One thing I've noticed running in the mornings is there are 3 older ladies walking the Greenbelt also.  When I was talking to Marlin he said they waive and say hello to him each morning, but when I see them they don't waive and barely acknowledge me when I run by.  Marlin thinks it's because he's running without a shirt.  Maybe I'll run a lap with him and we'll see what they do.  Drives me nuts when someone's not friendly.

Long run today down by the river.  Overall, I am happy with how it went. I was glad I was able to do it since last weekend it didn't happen.  I was glad I maintained around 8:50 overall.  So far I plan on taking tomorrow off.
