Local 10k's 2009 & 2010 Short-Term Running Goals: It's been a challenging year so far since Boston 2011. When I got home from Boston my world changed when I found out I had some pretty severe food allergies. Since being tested I have been focused on building my health back up which has been a long slow process. What a difference it's made and I feel extremely blessed. For years I knew something was wrong and it's amazing to finally know that food can actually be a persons medicine to live a healthy life. Long-Term Running Goals: "You have to wonder at times what you're doing out there. Over the years, I've given myself a thousand reasons to keep running, but it always comes back to where it started. It comes down to self-satisfaction and a sense of achievement." - Steve Prefontaine
I'm hoping to start building more miles when I can and be injury free. Maybe one of these days I'll be fast. Just for now I'm just very happy to be running. Personal: Happily married to Marlin Ordway. We've got 4 grown children between the two of us. It's been fun watching them go through life - making mistakes and picking themselves back up. I love seeming them happy and succeeding. |

Slower pace run today on the TM. I was really trying to keep my HR down today. Legs were tired from yesterday. I always find it harder the day after intervals to keep my HR where it should be. I really need to work on that!
It's been hectic with my parents up from Ariz this week. Glad I'm still able to get my runs in. I just get home later because I need to stop by and see them for awhile after the gym. It's alright. Wish the weather was warmer since they're visiting! |

Made it to the gym today after work. I'm glad tomorrows Friday. Every day there is some kind of meeting to go to. Tomorrow's a 2 hr meeting. Marlin's offtomorrow so he's going to be busy with errands. Kinda nice him having a day off!
For the run today I did a 15 min warm up and then moved it up to marathon pace (average 166 HR) - ending with a cool down for about 15 min's. Wisih my HR was alittle lower, but, I felt ok overall. I can tell it takes me a couple of days after intervals before my legs feel better. |

| | Went to they gym after work today. Glad it was Friday. Did a slower run today trying to keep it in the lower range of zone 2. Puts me at a 10 min mile. I've gotten so used to doing the same type of run up around my LT range it's been hard to run at a lower heart rate. I think it's getting easier. I was happy I stayed below 155 HR. Went home and stretched while watching tv. Sure does help.I've been liking doing some weights so might try yoga next week. |

It was a hectic weekend. Had a baby shower for a supervisor at work. Been a long time since I've been to one. Pretty fun. Went to church Sat night and then again Sunday. Had a great day watching the Super Bowl over at my parents house.

Ran at the gym today on the TM. Felt great that I kept it around Zone 1 & 2 for majority of run. Just towards the end I got into the higher half of Zone 2. Was glad I took the time to get 15 miles in. After working out my daughter and I went to a movie 'The Kings Speech'. Felt great to relax afterwords. I really liked the movie! |

| | Easy run today in the lower end of Zone 2. At times it's hard to keep my HR into Z2. But, I don't want to push it to hard and get to far into that zone. Marlin and I are trying to pay attention to what we eat. We've been going a nutrition class from church. Sure makes you aware. |

| | Nice run at the gym on the TM this afternoon. I was so glad it was friday! I knew I'd do at least 7 miles but ended up doing 9. When I got to 8 just decided to do 1 more. Overall, my HR was maintaining in the low to mid range in Zone 2. It did get alittle higher than I'd like a few times. When I got home I could tell my weight was down. Weighted in at 113. I haven't been that low for a super long time. I made sure and ate a super good dinner!!! Hoping to do a long run tomorrow. We'll see what happens in the morning. |

Thought about running outside today. But, ended up at the gym. Can't wait until the sun comes out more! The plan was to run 7 miiles, but it was turning out to be a good run so ended up doing 10.5. I'm learning to breath so it keeps my HR down. I just kept it at a 9.50 min mile. But, I managed to keep my HR down super low. Kept it at the below Zone 1 actually. Just need to keep practicing. Tomorrow is a day off. My sister is taking her kids skiing and asked if I want to go. Odds are I won't go, but it does sound fun. I'm hoping to go cross country skiing in the next couple of week. What I really want is warm weather!
In a week and a half Marlin and I are going to Napa for him to run the marathon there. Sure wish they had a half. It'll be great because we're staying with my sister and her husband for the first couple of days and then we're all going to Napa on Sat. Got a good deal from a friend of ours for a hotel. |

I think the speed workouts are starting to pay off. I notice it in my other run and on speed days. |

| | Had to keep it short today. Just had time to do 7 miles. I did my speedwork yesterday because I knew today was going to be a short day. Had to see my hairdresser Bev! Overall, it was a good run. Nice and easy after yesterday. |

| | Tempo run at the gym today. Ran 1 mile and then moved into the upper end of Zone 2. As the run went on I ran between Zone 2 and 3. Felt tired towards the end of the run. Work had been pretty hectic today trying to training agents on upcoming changes at the first of month. We've been understafffed so it was kinda hectic. |

| | Went to the gym after work today. Ran 8.5 miles in Zone 2 and walked half a mile to cool down. Overall, I liked the run. My sister showed up after 2 miles and I ran with her for a few miles. She had to go back to work. Marlin showed up when I was finishing up. Have to go to work tomorrow morning until around 11am. |
