It has been a while....

I had to stop running in September due to a large cyst on the back of my left knee.  I gave it several months to completely go away and by that time we were in the dead of winter.  The roads where I live have been horrible....icy, drifted, dangerous.  I told myself that when I could see asphalt on my road, it would be time.  With the melting we have had the last couple of days I was out of excuses.

It was 36 degrees, windy, and a little rainy this morning.  I ran 3.04 miles nice and easy.  I realize that I am basically starting from scratch and didn't want to push it too hard and get re-injured.  It was nice to be back out again.  I have kept in shape other ways, watched my diet, and actually weigh about 15 lbs less than I did when I ran my last marathon in September.

3.50 miles on muddy roads.  The road to my house almost washed-out yesterday with the rapid thaw of all our snow.  There was a county construction crew on it this morning trying to shore up the shoulder,

I felt really sick when I woke up this morning, so I decided to skip the run.

4.25 miles on a windy morning.  I ran the end of what may end up being the marathon course here in Pocatello.  We are considering changing the end of the course to utilize the new South Valley Connector and completely eliminate all the traffic issues the last 2 miles with the Freeway ramps, the gas station, and the congestion coming in from the North side of the park.  The finish would now be from the South.  I ran it to see how it would be for runners before we actually make the change.
