On the TM at the aquatic center while watching ESPN. This was a weird run. First, I ate too much before the run started. Normally when I run in the afternoon or evening I eat nothing for about 4 hours and then have a clif bar and some water 30 minutes before I start. Tonight the Clif bar tasted so good I decided to have another. Not good. My gut felt so bloated and heavy during the early part of the run that I even had thoughts of quitting. After running for a long long time I looked down at the time and had only been going for 20 minutes. Right then I decided that I needed to do something new and interesting to keep my mind busy. I decided to make it a hilly run. I started at 0% incline and increased the incline by 1% for 2 minutes with a 3 minute flat recovery. So the incline went from 1% to 10% in incerments of five minutes (2 minutes on the incline and 3 recovery). It was just what I needed to shake things up and give my mind a chance to do something other than complain about how bloated I felt. I got my entire 8 miles in and felt pretty good at the end. I know what I need. I need less TM time and to get out on the roads more so I can have some variety.
