Hi Lily. I had something great to say but just can't compete with frozen mucous. You can cut yourself on that, fyi. Nice positive attitude :)

I don't know how you do so much time on the EL, it just wears me out. Do you vary the incline and resistance? Do you mix the strides foreward and backward? I need some EL training advice :-)

IJustrun buddy, elliptical hell is approached with lot's of loud, fast, music. With varying speeds, and forward backward motion. It's easy to do when there is a 12 inch tv attached to the front of it. I zone out to the tv. Oh, and people watch. There is a lot of weirdos around!

Well since you are handing out advice I want to ask, do you prefer to do running first and then elliptical, or the other way around? I just got a gym pass and want to try and incorporate some elliptical hell into my life.

Rachel, I do the elliptical first usually. I started doing this in 2010 to teach my legs to run when already a little tired. I think it's made me a much stronger runner and endurance athlete.

I also want to add something. I know I've shared this a few times before. I also use the elliptical to help create a wide aerobic base in my training. You can never have enough aerobic training when trying to progress as a road racer. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! :)

Oh, and one more thing. I use the elliptical in the spring and summer as well. I will wake at at 4:45, get to the gym by 5, and use the elliptical for 40-50 minutes. Then I leave and go back home and run outside. I have several routes close by my house. If I am tapering for a long distance race, I will stay off the elliptical that week and taper down the running (I do lower miles, but semi fast miles)

Hey thanks Lily, this really helps. Sometimes I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing with my training.
