| I am back! I have ran a couple of times since I've been back from my mission, but haven't had time to blog them. I am taking it easy, because I went up to XC camp with the high school team to help out and I ran 8 miles with the freshman...given that I had been home just over a week you can see why my foot was hurting the rest of the week. But this run was good. I ran uphill (luckily not both ways haha) for the whole first .7 miles. I didn't have my watch because it's being stupid so I had to guesstimate. And obviously it seems like you've gone a lot farther when you are going uphill haha! I am thinking about doing a half this year, but we will see. Right now I am just focusing on getting back into short-mileage shape. I was breathing a little heavy due to the higher altitude, but not as bad as last time. I hurt my back a bit running downhill and had to stop. Don't know exactly what happened...must of just tweeked my body funny! Hopefully it goes away because it was pretty painful. I need to figure out what workouts I'm gonna do to prepare myself for a half marathon. Any suggestions?

| Still trying to figure out the best time to go for a run. My schedule has been all over the place so I probably should just wake up earlier to go run. Went running around 8 a.m. this morning.It was a good run. I felt really good and my form for most of the way was pretty good! I felt like my posture was really good and I drove my knees a bit (not a ton because I wasn't going that fast). I just need to work on my turnover rate so my feet aren't so long on the ground. Was planning on going 2 miles but I went a little past the one-mile mark to turn around. Overall a good run!

| Went for a nice run out to the double churches in St. George and back to my parents house. It was a good run. Beautiful temperature for a run! I was looking around and just noticed how truly beautiful southern Utah is! But I felt smooth. I tried to have low contact time with the ground to keep my stride from getting lethargic at various points and that went well but I seemed to mindlessly return to my old ways pretty quickly. Did some upper-body stuff after that. Not trying to become huge just working on my upper-body strength so I can be a well-rounded runner. Good day overall!

| 6:30 AM- Nice and easy three miles. For about 1/2 mile I ran a bit quicker just to see what my legs still had in them. It was a good run. Beautiful weather for running! I felt good except my right calf was a bit tight. Overall good run.

| 6:30 AM- went out on that industrial road again. I was feeling crappy the first 1/2 mile, but then I started to feel real good leading into the 2nd mile (1st mile 7:37). I decided to do a mini-tempo for a mile and see how much kick I had in my legs and my lungs and so the second mile was faster. I felt really good though so that was a good sign! I felt really smooth and my form seemed to be doing well. I wasn't going way fast but I felt like I could've maintained that for another mile (2nd mile- 6:30). The last one I went slow because I didn't want to overtrain or hurt myself over a 3-mile run so I went about 8:30 pace the whole time. Overall a good run!

| 6:30 AM- Ran the same route I've been running each morning (best option thus far). Just getting in the swing of things. I might bump up the mileage a bit in a week or two. First mile was nice and easy (7:43) second mile ditto (7:54) last mile I went a little faster because I was working more on form (7:23). So not a super fast workout, but it was meant to be on the relaxed side. Glad to be running consistently again! I feel a lot better when I do.

| 7:30AM- went for a nice three-mile run. I felt really good the first half. I was running around 6:40 pace and wasn't really trying to run fast. Second mile was around 7:00 pace and the last one (which was mostly a slight up hill) I felt a bit suggish but was still going a good pace considering I was just going for a nice run. Average for the whole run- 7:18/mile. Going to do one more week of consistent 3-mile running and then I will start throwing in some mileage to get a base in. Happy to be running!

Decided to go a little further as I plan to train for a half marathon beginning of next year and a half iron man in the spring. Felt good. A little tired at the beginning but overall it's good! | PM- Went in the afternoon. I was down in St. George for the weekend and went on a run between the general conference sessions. Went to the double churches and back. I was cruzing the whole time! I averaged a 6:35 pace even though I slowed down at the end. I don't know why but I was feeling really good! I was surprised because I drank a slurpy just before...maybe that's the key haha.

| AM- Basically did almost a loop around our small campus and then turned around and went back. I felt good. My feet were a bit heavy, but maybe it was because I was tired (it was 6 am afterall). Ran past a big group of ROTC guys and gals who were running for training. I said hi :) Still getting used to the altitude. I seem to have trouble breathing whereas when I was in St. George I felt fine (granted I was breathing a little heavy, but here it's heaviER). I'm sure I will get used to it. Glad to see a lot of people do decent in the St. George marathon!

| 8 AM- nice longer run. I went out to a park just past main street and turned into the park to use the bathroom only to realize there was a race going on..some sort of charity for cancer. I felt bad because I wish I could have helped out and raced but I had no idea nor money and on top of that the bathrooms were locked so I had to leave haha. I felt good. Seems like I'm just slightly overstriding so I'll fix that but overall a good run. 7:07/mi average pace.

| 7 AM- Nice run out to the new science building and back. It was a nice, easy pace (7:23/mi). I have been feeling really good, but still working on breathing. I guess when I start really doing hard workouts it will get better because my VO2 max will increase and all that jazz. Overall good run!
