OK here is the deal with the push-up challenge (notice I said challenge not CONTEST). I am going to do the push-ups Monday, Wednesday and Friday nights before I go to bed, and then report on the following days. You can report your progress here or on your own blog.
I did 20 push-ups (girly ones) during my initial test and so I am going to start in column three tonight. Good luck to all of you. I will need your support… this is the third time I have tried to do this so DO NOT let me quit!

4.3 EZ miles
Push-up challenge - after my first work out not as sore as I thought I would be. Maybe the "max" I thought I could do really should be more. Monday night I followed the third column for the first week and then did 20 for my max. I did the last few with good form but fast, I think I will try to slow down on Wednesday to make it harder. | Comments(3) |

.5 miles @ 9:13, 2.5 miles @ 8:20 (not really marathon pace but not sure where to put it) last .5 was hard and I dropped it down twice but when right back up. Why can I do 13 miles at this pace during a race and 2.5 is hard on the treadmill. I have got to work on my Jedi mind games!
Lifted for calves
Spin - We did what the instructor lovingly calls over and under intervals. Where you get your body over puke pace, hold it for 30 - 40 seconds and then drop just under that pace (NOT RECOVERY!) We did this in several variations for an hour. I am so dead I am going to take a bath and then a nap! I really need to start counting my cross training mile I think I average 16-20 a week. | Comments(5) |

Woke up and I could barely move I was so sore from spin, I am going to have a rest day today. I may walk tonight but even that sounds painful now.

Boy spin on Wednesday really did a number on my legs! Even after taking the day off yesterday I couldn't do my usual elliptical work out today. I started out normally and in my mind I even wanted to beat last weeks time. Soon after 4 miles I had to lower the resistance from 12 to 7 and then for the last mile I was at 1. So you would think with the resistance that low I would have killed on the time but no I was done with the six miles in 49:20. Well live and learn. I still think I would do it all over again I loved that spin work out! I well see if my legs are still feeling it for tomorrows run.

I just looked at my legs for the lake to lake relay and I have one huge hill during one of the legs. I thought I might want to add more hills to my training to get prepared for this. I set the incline to 3% and ran at 9:13 for .5 miles then I did 2X 400 meter repeats at 7:30 with 100 meter rest. I then changed the incline to 2% and repeated the intervals. Finally I did three more intervals at 1% for a total of 7 I then cooled down at 10:00 Pace. I could really tell the difference in the incline but it was funny that my legs didn't hurt as much and my lungs at 3%. I am going to have to do this more often and see if I cant kill the hills this year!!!

4.1 EZ miles I started to throw in a few hill but decided against it. If I am going to make my hard days really hard I have to make my easy days easier. Tomorrow I have spin again and I want to be ready.

Set the treadmill at 1% incline, ran .5 @ 9:13 ran 2.5 @ 8:27 ran .5 @ 8:00 The last .5 was very hard but I was "racing" the guy next to me! If he only knew how close he came to winning or that he was even in a race :)

I was really sad when it was still snowing when I woke up. SDRR was not meeting today and I couldn't bring myself to run in the snow alone... I know I am a wuss. Anyway I read Teena's report and thought if she could do 13 miles on a treadmill I could do 6. Got on and ran 2 easy miles then went to half marathon pace for a mile. Our poor old treadmill sounded like it was going to break in half so I slowed to a easy pace for the rest of the miles. I really should have gone to the gym or just toughed it out outside, I feel like these miles were total junk miles.

Lifted for legs - They moved the machines around in the gym this weekend so that all the leg machines are together, abs are in one area etc. This seems like a great idea but my rest between sets was the walk to the new machine and now I have to stand around looking like an idiot... I guess I could always dance to my tunes while I wait because that would be much less conspicuous.

3 miles today they should have been race pace miles (8:30) but I think I lifted too hard on Monday and I threw in a few hills in yesterdays run because I was board (I walked them so I thought it wouldn't hurt) Anyway I did the first mile @ 9:13 the second @ 8:54 and the third @ 8:49 I did sprint .2 @ 8:00 at the end but I am sure it didn't make up for the over all slower miles.

| My legs were so dead last night I couldn't sleep because of the pain. I laid in bed, tossed and turned for about two hours. They didn't hurt a lot just felt like they had really been work yesterday. When I woke up they felt better but I decided not to do my normal routine today. Normally I would run 3 easy miles, lift for abs and then spin. Instead I went on the rickety old basement treadmill and walked at 1% incline for 5 miles. My legs feel much better. I will do abs tonight with my push-ups and hopefully kick butt tomorrow on the elliptical. | Comments(5) |
