Freedom Hills Loop, hard return. After work I got right back out on the road. I ran straight up the hill to where the pavement ends; then walked up the steepest part. I pushed pretty hard for 1/2 of this run, which isn't typical of late. It felt good, getting reacquainted with hard breathing and burning legs. 4 days ago, I was walking around this area with the little girls. There was water, puddles, rivulets and snow in abundance. Today it was bone dry, aside from the most sheltered northern exposures. Around Mile 3, I ran into Kevin Smith. He was in a 4 wheeler, staging some firewood for a scout camp out tomorrow. I saw a couple with a dog walking/running. I guess I was walk/running too. The switchbacks are dry. |
