Oh give me strength!!!  This was one of those "I don't think so runs" but I gave it the best I could.  I was still tired from lack of sleep but I told myself "just do it".  So I ran my usual route to Kim's house (2.35 mi).  Warmed up a mile on the TM and gradually got it to a 7:53 mile.  Now the big stuff:  6 ( but did 7) by 880 (that's how Kim's TM is set up).  I didn't know what mph was for a 3:05 so first put it at 10mph and worked my way down to a 6:11 pace which ended up being 9.7 mph.  Ran this 7 times with a 1:30 rest interval which I was true to, I would wait for the TM to really be at the pace I needed then start the time to 3:05 then crank it down to 6 mph (10:00 pace) cause I was winded.  I think due to the fatigue.  My HR was higher even on the warmup run to Kim's.  My left leg was in such pain that I just had to focus.  Mostly the left leg shinsplint from the downhill run Monday with new shoes.  Stupid, I know. Went home unloaded dishes, ate then went up to the river and iced times 5 minutes.  HR even now seems unusually pounding like.  Probably hormonal.  Just before I left for my run I was suddenly freezing to death and actually had to blast the heat in my car while I drove my kids to school.  I was shivering as I took off.  Then when I got into Kim's TM room and did the workout I sweated so much I thought I pee-d my pants cause I was dripping sweat from my shorts in the back.  But then I felt my back and it too was dripping.  I must have been out of my zone for sure today.  I was fatigued going into this workout, what could I expect?   Ran a 3.49 mile cooldown.  Made it longer cause HR too high after the 2.35. Recovery day tomorrow.  MP run Friday then my 5 of 7 nights one more time before SGM.  Goodness Gracious!!!  There is light!!

Oh I felt yucky with you reading that. Yucky shinsplint yucky high heart rate yucky fatigue. Keep in mind, however, that you are a magician and still seem to pull the rabbit out of the hat. Send some of that my way for Sunday. And eat a blizzard. It works. Seriously. I think it triggered a serotonin release that was good for healing. And it has lots of carbs.:)BLIZZARD! BLIZZARD! BLIZZARD!

Okay you got me thinking I should go get a blizzard or something : D After the initial post intense workout nausea- please don't eat anything, my stomach says- I am starting to build an appetite. Ice cream is a cure-all at my house. A blizzard sounds absolutely delightful. Emphasis on the syllable "light" : DD Thanks April. PS I try to keep spare rabbits in my hat so I will send one your way. The one I am sending says he is pretty fast so you better catch him Sunday am!!!

You are amazingly tough!!!

Did your heart rate ever settle down?

Yes back to normal. No pounding. No hot and cold sweats at the moment so I am on the mend. Recovery run day tomorrow will hopefully FULLY get rid of this shinsplint. Sciatica currently at bay, except my left foot is tingly, numby in places. Same problem as before SGM last year. Maybe I should try magnet therapy. Before my TOU marathon in 1999 I had a bad IT problem and I was given a magnet at the expo. Didn't stop me from hitting a HUGE wall at mile 18. Yup 8 miles of pure lacticity!!! I wasn't well trained. My half was 1:40, second half- well with 8 miles at 10 to 11 pace I barely qualified for Boston in 3:40:49. I actually didn't think I qualified and found out years later that they accept to 59 seconds past the time. I have no idea why I am going on like this. I think I better get to bed. I am trying to think of a boring movie to watch that will knock me out.

WOW! You're TOUGH! Did you hydrate during the run? Man alive! I'd fall off the TM at that speed. YOU ARE FAST! Don't you hate this hormonal stuff that makes you cold one min and heating up the next? So annoying and sometimes downright scary.
