1250 in the afternoon run.  No water, no wet hat just good ole heat run.  Mainly an easy run.  Was going to do just two then just three and then decided to go four but then decided to do a slower last mile for a true easy squeezy lemon pleeezy run so did over 5.  Amazing how my mind can take such runs (in the heat) in increments.  Did cooldown mile with water on my head so felt quite relaxing at 9:00 pace.  Total miles of 5.14 at 8:19 pace.  Before last mile pace 8:12.  So pretty nice midday run.  I am going to freeezzze to death at Bryce Canyon.  It is mainly a tempo run for me cause like I said I am not much for planned speedwork except in races.  Hence why I run more of them in the Summer.  Got the Speedy Spaniard 10K 6 days after this 1/2 marathon....oooooo laaaaa laaaa.  :  D

Your "easy" pace is quite brisk! You are going to do awesome in your half marathon!

Hoping I sleep well tonight. Only slept just under 5 hours broken in half after last nights shift. I am holding out until I get kids off to bed at 930, crossfingers. I am vegetating. Just ate some chocolate chips to keep me alert for the next hour. Ate better rest of the day, whole grains. Ready to put myself to the test come Saturday morning. Antibiotics kicked in after four doses so sore throat and body aches are GONE, except for sore quads, hams from speed Wednesday. Thanks April, I really hope to break 1:33. Ipod or no Ipod? I think it is a distraction, not necessarily a speed enhancer.

Glad you are feeling better. I vote no Ipod but that's only because I run without one. I am of the personal opinion that bananas are the ultimate race morning food. I can choke 'em down no matter how nervous I am and they don't upset my stomach or make my bowels do anything funny :) I can't wait to read your race report! Do you have a pacing plan or are you just going to start running and see what happens?

No real plan. Just Run. I hope to actually run by feel. At the Ogden marathon I ran a quick mile at 6:32 (mile 16) and I thought it had to be off, but everyone's race reports showed that mile to be at their same pace or slower so it was that I ran by feel and then saw my time and psychologically and hence physiologically slowed down. I decided that if I run a quick mile in this race I am not going to psyche myself out. Does this make sense? I think I will try the no iPod. I concentrate better on my pace without one. My friend runs fast with one, way fast. She may come in first or second, depends on who shows up. So then I think maybe the music is a good thing? I ran all six of my 8 marathons without one. It was hard to make conversation because everyone had an iPod blaring. So I got one so I could have something in my head. But I miss the conversations or the attempts. I did talk enough through Ogden with mine on but oddly the girl without could barely muster two words. I used to think running fast and talking was totally annoying (you know fast running partners passing me in a race in full on conversation), now I do it all the time, and I probably annoyed that young runner. It should be interesting, it is basically my tempo run with an adrenaline rush to push me even more. Off to bed I go for a good 8-9 hours : D
