Just get out and run, run.  The weather too beautiful to pass up no matter how drained one might be.  I got to wear shorts and a nylon t-shirt, never cold.  Perfect temps with awesome autumn colors.  Wanted to turn back at the 5 mile mark and make it 8.5 cause I was feeling fatigued but found some power within to pull myself through.  I am going to need this power at Squaw Peak next June (50 miler).  Working on my mental toughness wherever/whenever I can.  Mind over body.  That is the key to endurance events.  Ran my new hilly loop through trails and the canal into and out of Cedar Hills with the addition of last week plus a .5 mile cool down.  Average pace for total =  8:23.  First mile 8:58.   Last mile 7:11.  Cooldown 1/2 mile 8:32.  Pigged out on chocolate milk, less processed tortillas, and cottage cheese.  Will eat all night.  Work next two.  Slept two four hour blocks last night, no meds needed.  Ahhhhh!!!!!    Side Story:  On my run as I stared at Lone Peak High School's track thinking I should do speed  work(lack of energy convinced me otherwise) a guy was on the track then he hopped over the fence and came running in my direction.  Well about a 1/2 mile earlier I passed a guy with a backpack and beany on about 18- 20 years old roaming around the road up from the pond. He was walking towards the school.  I stood staring at how to get into the track but it just  wasn't worth my effort today.  So I turned to get back on the trail and there was the same backpack guy.  The guy from the track, dressed like a jock, was sprinting towards him.   I overheard him say "Man, I got to talk to you right away!".  Okay a jock and a suspicious not dressed for the weather ipod, backpacker, beanie man chatting.  I pretended and actually tried not to hear them.  I was worried I might hear something I didn't want to hear and then be this witness person.  The backpack guy made eye  contact twice with me and had this clever smile on his face.  Drugs?  Friendly banter?  Girl troubles? Who knows?  Another woman on the trail from the opposite direction with two dogs also stared at the two.  Who has time for this?  Away I went.  Left to my own suspicions.

O man, I need to come run with you one of these days! NOT that I can keep up with you...but I sure need your mental toughness...an 8 miler turned into 13+?

Interesting side-story! You know that those guys are in a "DRUG-FREE ZONE", right? If they were dealing with drugs, you seriously could be a witness! Highly doubt that it was friendly banter. The fact that another woman on the trail stared at them as well.

What an odd situation. I wouldn't want to get involved either! Sounds like a great run--way to stretch it out and so glad you got some sleep finally!

Smooth and April--- Apparently that night a boy 17 years old was found dead in Cedar Hills, having fallen to his death. I looked up the news story (I took care of his baby cousin in the nursery last night and heard about this) and saw a picture of the boy. A good student and a senior at Lone Peak. He looks just like the boy I saw walking around with the backpack, beanie and iPod, same clever smile (see KSL news story). Obviously he wasn't suspicious, he just has a smile like that. I really think it was the same person I saw. Do you think? Too coincidental, especially my feelings with the two conversing. I should have listened more closely and not put on my iPod.

Whoa! That's too spooky! I'll have to dig up that news. Did they investigate the cause of his death? Did they suspect foul play?

From JulieC on Tue, Nov 10, 2009 at 12:34:39 from 71.35.215.50

no. they said it was an "unfortunate accident", but everyone has been thinking that rumor and passing it along. Just odd that a boy was walking that way on the same day I was running and even commented about it on my blog.

perhaps though foul play can always look like an accident....

his parents said he loves to hike and has had several broken arms from the risks he has taken hiking. I just wish I knew if he had a beanie on with a back pack. The smile is what totally looks the way I remember.

Oh wow Julie that is definitely kind of creepy. How nervous will you be if you ever see the other dude again!? That would scare me--hopefully you can find out more!
