Got my "can" out at 650am.  Alarm off at 630am.  So thought I should roll over but had too much to do today with mom in town and a ortho appt.  Ran up to the canal on 1100 North at  (The Big Hill, 8:56 pace) and today I wanted to go south so I did all the way to 1600 north in Orem where there I found my gatorade/powerade drop off from this past Summer's 20 miler with Josse and Melanie. It was well hidden so not even touched just some weeds trying to grow around it.  So I took no thought but for a moment to swig some down, nice and icy to match the air.  Brrr it was this am.  I wore this huge pull over wool-like old jacket (given to me by an old high school beau years ago, 1987).  So that kept me warm and made the run bearable.  My nostrils burned for the first bit of the run I almost turned around to get tissues to stuff in there to keep em' warm.  That feeling passed thankfully.  I again felt strong on this run.  I think it is because it is soooooo freezing that running fast keeps me warm (kind of like if you fall into cold water it is bettter to keep movin' or you would die real quick).  First mile 8:40.  Last mile 6:58.  Cooldown 1/2 mile @ 8:18 pace.   Faster by only 2 1/2 minutes on the way back since I had the big downhill for 1 mile there.  Phewww!!  Surprised avg pace still below 8 even with 9.4 miles on the dirt trails.    : DDDD!!!   So total mileage 13.45 miles at 7:57 pace.  Going to eat well.  Feeling really good.  Sleep really helping my running.  Finally.

WOW! AWESOME mileage and pace on such a freezing cold morning! YOU ARE SUPER "CAN" WOMAN!!! How in the world did you run that fast in a big ole wool-like jacket? Glad you're getting the sleep you want/need! GOOD JOB!!!!

After the Halloween FREEZE YOUR BUTT off 1/2 marathon expedition today actually wasn't too bad with my wool-like jacket with a t-neck and nylon longsleeved shirt. I am thinking of getting thermal garments. Have you tried them? My quads are always cold the whole run. My butt too butt luckily todays jacket covered it :D.

nice running. so glad to hear you are feeling strong. i love that you found remnants of a summer long run gatorade stash. i cannot believe how cold it was this morning. brrrr!

I used to run in thermal garments...but didn't lik'em when they are sweat soaked...I'd get really cold once I stopped running. Layering is better. When the temp dips down in the teens, I'd wear the UnderArmour Sub-zero mock turtleneck. It's a great tech running top. For the bottom, I'm partial to CWX tights, the Insulator one is AWESOME. It is a bit pricey but so worth it.

Nice run and awesome pace for such a cold run! Wow, you are a trooper! Do you usually run in your garments? Just wondered, I don't but maybe in the winter it wouldn't be a bad idea.

Thanks Smooth. Good info.

Amber no I don't but in the Artic Air yesterday I was trying to think of my options for not having a red butt or thighs when I finish a run. I think I am moving to SG : D

I am glad you are feeling good, you deserve it! I can attest to those frigid temps yesterday. Keep up the good sleep, I really notice a difference with good sleep.

Julie you are just getting stronger and stronger. Keep getting that sleep and eating well--you are a force to be reckoned with!
