Half Marathon Finish

Running Accomplishments:

Recently have become interested in running thanks to my daughter and her XC adventures. I have finished a 5K and 10K. As I am new to running, I don't have a lot of highlites at this point. Hopefully this will change

Short-Term Running Goals:

First build back up to running thirty minutes at a time.

5K October 30 -- Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

10k in November -- Butch Cassidy race in Springdale.

I would like to build a solid base over the next 6 - 12 months. I hope to run in either 5K or 10K races through the next year and perhaps one 1/2 marathon (depending on how my body responds to training).

 

I would like to see how fast and far my 40 + year old body is capable of running.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Over the next 10 years I want to run consistently to maintain health and to enjoy a sport that challenges me.

Personal:

I have a wonderful marriage of 20+ years and have four children who are the light of my life. They range in age from 19 - 12 . . . two girls and two boys. Two of my children are interested in running.  Sierra and Zac are both participating on the Pine View XC Team.

AM Run -- Took Zac to the Gym and then did my own run.  The 1.5 mile up hill is tough, but doable.  I felt rushed today as we woke up late and I was about ten minutes slower starting.  Completed the forty minute run though and streched.  Didn't feel as strong today.

Helped Sierra with her paper last night and didn't finish until 0100.  I got up early to take Zac to the Gym, but knew if I ran there was no way I could function today.  I struggled most of the day anyway.

Staff meeting at the jail this morning at 0700.  Didn't have time for a run :(.  I will need to run Thursday, Friday, and Saturday this week.

AM Run from the Gym. Ran the usual route.  Finished faster than I ever have this year.  I like the feeling of getting stronger and finding more endurance.

Zac was tired and not feeling well this morning so I ran from home.  Ran my old route past Artic Circle and on to the corner of the BLVD.  I met up with Sierra at Artic Circle and ran with her for the second half of the run.  It was fun to run with her again.

AM Run.  Ran from home today.  Artic Circle route and then on to the BLVD corner and back.  My legs felt a little fatigued.  I am grateful that I am able to exercise and move.
