Running Accomplishments:

Recently have become interested in running thanks to my daughter and her XC adventures. I have finished a 5K and 10K. As I am new to running, I don't have a lot of highlites at this point. Hopefully this will change

Short-Term Running Goals:

First build back up to running thirty minutes at a time.

5K October 30 -- Big Brothers, Big Sisters.

10k in November -- Butch Cassidy race in Springdale.

I would like to build a solid base over the next 6 - 12 months. I hope to run in either 5K or 10K races through the next year and perhaps one 1/2 marathon (depending on how my body responds to training).

 

I would like to see how fast and far my 40 + year old body is capable of running.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Over the next 10 years I want to run consistently to maintain health and to enjoy a sport that challenges me.

Personal:

I have a wonderful marriage of 20+ years and have four children who are the light of my life. They range in age from 19 - 12 . . . two girls and two boys. Two of my children are interested in running.  Sierra and Zac are both participating on the Pine View XC Team.

PM Run -- Ran after Jill and I spent the afternoon in Cedar City watching tBen and Zac race.  Sierra is still on the injured list :(.  I ran my usual large loop around the neighborhood.  My back was sore from the previous workouts this week and my feet have been very sore after the run.  Good workout though.

BYU lost to USU tonight.  It is going to be a very long season for Y fans.

AM Run-  I dropped Zac off at Crossfit and went for my morning run from there.  Ran up hill for the first half . . . not fun.  Of course what goes up must come down so the second half of the run was a little easier.  Got a good stretch in after my run.

AM Run.  Droppe Zac off at the Gym and ran in St. George proper this morning.  Nice run. My body is getting stronger, yet I am sad that I let as much time lapse as I did.

AM run -- Again in St. George.  Ran an eight minute stretch today (down hill).  I rested for a shorter period of time.  My endurance is improving.

Today I woke up at a Scout Camp.  We left early to get Zac, Ben and Josh home early.  I spent time at the 11 Year Old day camp.  We watched Ben's Soccer game and football game.  Zac and I then mowed lawns.  After work we went to the Gym at WCSO and did the WOD as follows:

AM Run.  Zac didn't got to Crossfit -- wanted to be fresh for Region today.  I ran around home . . . my starter loop.  Able to run just over a mile today without stopping. Progress!!!  I am feeling much better than I have been in the past.

AM Run -- Zac was  back a the Gym this morning and I am back running in St. George.  Enjoyed the run, but I did not get enough sleep.

I enjoyed watching the Region Cross Country meet yesterday.  Both Zac and Sierra ran.  This was Sierra's last region meet and she ran an outstanding race.  I felt proud of both.

AM run -- Zac and I nearly slept through and missed the workout this morning.  Sierra woke us both . . . . thx Sierra.  I am feeling stronger as I am now running up to eight minutes at a time.  I am taking fewer walking breaks, and those breaks are for shorter periods of time.  My ankles are still sore . . . probably the worst part of my body at the moment.  I am grateful to be running.

Hiked for two plus miles today up at Zion's Park.  Not real strenuous, but thought I would count it into my milage calculator.  Had a great time with our family.  Even ran a little as we were trying to get Sierra back for work at 1500 :)

AM Run -- Dropped Zac off at the Gym and ran.  The fresh smell from last night's rain smelled good and I enjoyed a cool run.  The roads were wet . . . I love this time of year.

AM Run.  Back to running again this week.  I had a number of things this week that interfered with my exercise.  Ran today in St. George after dropping Zac off for his morning workout.  I felt a lot stronger and I had more stamina than I have had.  Good run.

PM Run at home. Ran the Article Circle route.  I extended it a little by running over to sunrise tire and then up the foremaster hill and back down.  Good run.  Felt like I am getting stronger.

AM Run -- Took Zac to the Gym and then did my own run.  The 1.5 mile up hill is tough, but doable.  I felt rushed today as we woke up late and I was about ten minutes slower starting.  Completed the forty minute run though and streched.  Didn't feel as strong today.

Helped Sierra with her paper last night and didn't finish until 0100.  I got up early to take Zac to the Gym, but knew if I ran there was no way I could function today.  I struggled most of the day anyway.

Zac was tired and not feeling well this morning so I ran from home.  Ran my old route past Artic Circle and on to the corner of the BLVD.  I met up with Sierra at Artic Circle and ran with her for the second half of the run.  It was fun to run with her again.
